vRS Import - Is it UK Spec?

Featured Replies

Am I the only one thinking that 15000 miles in just over three years is suspiciously low? I do realise it can happen of course.

nah. My daughters fabia, that I had from new has, 10,000 on the clock after 3 years. The octavia estate I part-ex'd for the VRS was 7 years old with 35,000 miles again had that from new. The wifes VRS is a year old with 8000 on the clock (which includes a run to Germany and back) - and that will do around 4000 miles next year as Im picking up my VRS on Saturday so wont be pinching her's any more. All genuine miles, fsh

I doubt it has done any miles on Malta except for driving to and from the port. PDI'd in August 2007 and registered in UK in December 2007 I would say it was a car ordered by an independant retailer, shipped to this country and parked in a compound until the first owner bought it.

This is correct.

I'll check the spare at lunchtime...I had a quick look before and it looked like a full size alloy as opposed to a skinny steel wheel that I would call a space saver. Surely the diameter of the spare wheel needs to be the same as the alloys on the car (depending on the aspect ratio of the tyre of course)?

Sounds like your not completely happy with the car and you didnt get it for a cheap price either. If the dealer says you can give it back and get your old car back then that is what i would do. Id then look for another VRS which is a UK car and that your completely happy with.

Motorpoint get a lot of their stock from Malta and they were doing the VRS about 3 years ago. 15k in 3 years isn't cause for concern on its own.

I'm very happy with the car, its just the way I found out about it being brought in via Malta and that I had assumed it would be sold through a Skoda dealer with an Approved Skoda Used Car Warranty package thingy. I got spooked. I had parted with a considerable sum of money by just sticking my debit card in a card reader. Now I have had time to reflect I am feeling far more pragmatic about the situation especially listening to the majority of views on this forum. Hopefully this thread is now about to come to its conclusion. I'll post back when I have spoken to the dealer. :)

Quite right. I bought my VRS from Motorpoint in Burnley in Summer 2007 and it was sourced from Malta. It was all UK spec (It had rear electric windows, jumbo box and dual zone climate control) which was on offer at the UK dealers at the time.

I didn't have any problems at all, and I received a fair p/ex price when I changed to the Scout earlier this year.

Just to say thank you to all the comments and advice - good or otherwise - I have spoken to the dealer and all parties are now completely satisfied. Case closed!

Glad you have come to a happy conclusion with your car Morley and I think I speak for everyone when I say that you will have many a happy mile gunning her down the British highways( within the law of course :giggle: )

The reason I said about the spare wheel is that although my car has 17" alloys on it, the spare is a 16" steel with a slightly narrower tyre on it, but the aspect ratio means that the rolling radius comes out about the same.
