My new exhaust

Featured Replies

Backbox was removed due to it being rusty, got this welded on the standard pipework, its a 5x3 oval. Quite a significant difference in sound now its bedded in and sounds really nice, especially the burble on start up and a bit of a louder turbo spool!

Fresh! looks good mate. I think the 6x4 fills the gap a little better but still shiny.

how much it cost you m8 if u dont mind me asking? i wanna get this done too

Standard backbox removed and replace with a mufflerctomy? Should make a fairly big difference to the sound...

Not a huge difference. A tad more turbo spool and a bit gruntier on start up.Although in sainsburys earlier i started it after shopping and thought i had started a subaru instead haha. I didnt want it too loud anyway which is quite good :) 6x4 was considered but when put against it just decided it looked a bit big in the end...Really happy with it though :)

Very Nice

But it should make quite a difference, had mine done a few weeks ago and now got a nice exhaust note !

Mine is a twin outlet was put off an oval by the garage as the guy reckoned that it would be louder with the oval because the 2 1/2 inch pipe exits into the oval chamber about 6 inch in causing it to echo. Just revving the engine it sounds the same but on hard acceleration at about 2000rpm and up nice low growl.

As I said wanted and Oval but starting to like it now

Karl :giggle:

Karl, what did you do with the standard backbox?

Karl, what did you do with the standard backbox?

Still got it Matt, just in case it sounded too loud or to much vibration through the car

BTW you still up for the meet this weekend

I asked this in another thread a couple of weeks ago but no one replied to it...

Am I right in saying we can just remove the back box and replace with a tailpipe and that it doesnt affect mot?

Correct,

Diesel are not tested on emissions, but as of next year as I understand it the will be checked for a particle filter (Cat) so as long as the exhaust is not that loud it will pass the mot

To be fair though there has been much talk of this recently, a simple search would bring up all of your answers.

Yes it will pass an MOT.

where did you get those number plate surrounds?? :o:wub: lol

Will you be keeping the standard backbox, or looking to get rid of it? I know someone who can take it off your hands :giggle:

Yeah, I'm up for the meet on the weekend. Sunday at 1pm at junction 36 (Sarn services)

I'll also see if I can my mate with a red Fabia vRS to come along as well :)

Nice work Chris

You'd better get over mine soon for a wash though mate.

Wilsy7, try these, they look okay to me.... Carbon effect numberplate holders

I also have a spare OEM backbox with twin custom tips going spare.

If anyones interested drop me a PM.

I want a standard back so I can cut the tip off, and use the tip on a straight through exhaust. Mainly because the car will still look standard from the outside :)

get a vid up of the sound fella

Had a proper drive today and further up the rev ranges you can definately hear a change in note...sounds more aggressive. Also on start up there's now a lovely burble. Got some pics of the pipework I'll post up in a bit and try and get a video at some point.

Garry definately...free this weekend?

cheers mate

oh well looks like there's more money to be spent on my car then lol. I might pop into a place I used a few years back that does custom exhausts, cant imagine some pipework and a tailpipe will be too much.

To be fair though there has been much talk of this recently, a simple search would bring up all of your answers.

Yes it will pass an MOT.

Well I've never seen it discussed tbh, and searching brings up shed loads of results that just aren't relevant, I did try that first ;)

...free this weekend?

Could well be mate, Saturday looks best bet weather wise.

Gis a txt Sat morning and I'll let you know if I've been nagged into

any DIY tasks. But free so far
