Springs from Octavia RS on a diesel Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi,

Do you guys think that the springs of a Octavia VRS fits on a Octavia 1.9 Tdi 2001 elegance. Is it safe?

I want to lower my car but I have Dotz mugello rims on it and the tyre is a litlle bit off the fender and I can´t lower it too much. All I want to know is if it´s safe to do this modification and how much will it lower the car.

Sorry for my bad english

Regards

I'm sure they would physically fit, but I'm also sure the spring rates would be very wrong. I would bet that the diesel engine weighs more than a VRS and handling would be severely affected. These are my guesses and opinions though, not fact.

I have vRS springs on mine. You need to uprate the dampers to match if you use them. The bump stops on the vRS are shorter too. According to the handbook, there isn't that much difference in the weight of the vRS and the TDI. The ride height is about 1 inch lower than with the standard TDI springs, maybe a little lower.

However, with the state of our roads I am beginning to wonder if I should change back to the standard springs and improve the handling with some uprated anti-roll bars.

Ive used VRS springs and dampers on my diesel and it was a bit of a mistake!

The spring and damper rates arent high enough to cope with the extra weight of a diesel engine.

It was lower than the VRS due to the extra weight and the dampers couldnt cope and it was bouncey and if you went down a hill with a dip at the bottom it would wollow quite bad and bounce around

ive gotthe last option on this page, ver yvery impressed, comfortable ride on most roads yet not choppy and minimal roll, they have gone up in price a tad since i got them but i would reccomend them for sure!

Sounds good. But I can´t lower the car that much because of the wheels. They get a little bit out of the fenders and if I lower it 50mm the wheels are going to hit the fenders.
