no beeping when i leave the lights on

Featured Replies

any one any idea why when i leave the lights on in the car mine doesnt beep anymore

Most likely the door mechanism that tells the car the doors are open. Mine's failed unless I close the door without much force and leave it on the latch, so to speak - the door open warning then comes on and it buzzes if the lights are on. Not a cheap fix - £70 or so for the part then an hour to fit = :'(

Check if the door open warning light comes on with the drivers door and passenger door.

S

As above, or if unlucky new dash panel needed.

what is this like to replace?

Door card off, window regulator carrier plate off (most likely pop riveted on, and weird sized rivets used.) After that skinned knuckles and a few torx.

Not so much hard, as just awkward due to cost saving build methods. Door card can be a pig to get off, and you need proper trim removal tools to avoid breaking plastic bits and marking paint. Carrier plate rivets all need drilling out, and a special sized rivet gun to fit the weird sized rivets. Carrier needs to be resealed to prevent water ingress.

Basically as a one of DIY job, you will most likely spend a fair bit on tools. Dealer won't charge too much for the job, and it's a lot less hassle for sure.
