2012 MY vRS

Featured Replies

Most of you probably know already but it would appear that the 2012 MY Fabia has been announced.

Changes appear to be quite limited but on the vRS the aerial is changed for a smaller Polo style item. Also the car can apparently be ordered with a black package (black grille, headlights and DRL's).

I'm personally a bit peeved as it looks like my car is being built in week 20 and the changes supposedly take effect from week 22, means that I may well end up with one of the last of the 2011 MY cars; not the end of the world but a bit annoying to get a brand new car then all of a sudden its not current.

Not hugely bothered given the discount we've gotten off the car but I may well try and hang out for a 2012 car if Skoda will let me. I've e-mailed the dealer and am awaiting an answer.

Ha Ha, Skoda have cottened on to what has been done :giggle:

So are the headlights going to have built in DRLs like the audi's??

Anyone know what changes the other models in the Fabia range have?

Cheers

Lee

whens week 22?

I have been feeling greedy and despite having only just got my VRS, wondered what i could get for trade-in in 3 or 4 months time if i were to order another VRS on the VAT free deal now? could i essentially get 3 or 4 months of motoring by the trade-in value being similar to the value of a VAT free VRS or do people think that will be taken into account? The only reason i thought about this was because i looked on autotrader for a used VRS and could not believe the price dealers wanted for them.

Is a difficult one. I gather the dealership knocks the VAT off but then Skoda pay the dealer a balancing payment for the car so the dealer still effectively sells the car for its RRP. I'm curious whether the dealer would give you nearer the RRP back for the car (perhaps slightly more than you paid for it) or whether Skoda have made some sort of dictat that any new vRS sold via the VAT free scheme is to have its used price adjusted accordingly on buy-back.

Be interesting to know the dealers stance but assuming Skoda havent made demands and that the dealerships arent actually losing any money through the VAT free schemes it's likely given demand for the vRS that you'd get strong money back on a 3-4 month old low mileage part ex. Personally I dont think i'd bother though; couldnt wait another 4 months for a new one.

Hi All,

Well I have a fairly definitive answer from my dealer......

If you've bought one through the VAT deal you'll almost definitely receive a 2011 MY car, they seem to be pushing the orders through to get all VAT offers through as MY 11 builds. Seems that the VAT deal applies specifically to MY 11 cars.

Our build has currently disappeared off the system, dealer thinks this is because they are trying to bring the build forward from week 20.

Dealer basically said you cannot choose to wait for a MY 12 car and it would be purely luck if you ended up with one. He made a good point in saying that the vRS is such a new model that the MY changes to it will be very limited anyway. Not particularly bothered about the black styling package or a smaller roof aerial!

It makes me think that they may be looking to take the Fabia vRS back off the deal come March 31st, has just been a temporary thing to shift a few units.

do you have the link to the article where you found these changes. Would like to take a look.

Many thanks.

Tis being very greedy, but i may just ry and see what would happen, just for the hell of it. As some of the other posts have said though, it probably would not extend to the 2012 MY though. Quite liked the idea of a black grill.

Hi JerryT, be interesting to see what they say. I would be suprised if you get offered what you paid for the car or more though, I fear that the VAT free offer probably has hit the vRS's residuals a bit.

I can't see a dealer being able to hold the build up as such so surely just ordering right at the end of March would be the best bet for getting a MY2012 vrs? Then again, if you get the option of the black pack, surely it has to be a MY2012 car anyway as this is when the option starts? :wonder:

Likely no xenon headlights then :(

Deep down i know your right but it is worth a punt, especially as mine worked out to be about 25% under list so i have a little wiggle room. Probably just phone around one or two just to see how the land lies but i expect to be waved off very quickly.
