Digital Cameras

Its time I took the plunge and nought one of these.

Unfortunately Iknow nothing about them. I am looking at a budget of

1. Generally speaking more pixels does mean a better picture, but personally I think anything of 4.8+ should be enough, and that's when it's better to spend the money on optical zooms and that...

2. Most cameras use memory cards, and will come with a relatively small one. As to whether you want to buy a larger second one comes down to what sort of quality photos you take, and how long you'll go between transferring them to a computer, etc.

3. Various places run different offers, you're looking at about 30p per print at most kiosk places I believe. The other option is to buy a printer and print them yourself...

One major advantage is that you can see how they will turn out beforehand, so you only process the ones which come out well... ;)

cheers chaps!

1)The human eye can only see 2.2 MP on a 1:1 scale so any more is wasted unless you are doing zoom work

2) Watch out here because some use their own special format (Fuji and olympus use xD, and sony use memory stick). These can be rather expensive in comparison to the mass marketed memory standards such as MMC, SD and Smartmedia/CF.

3) Not too sure about prints but some online places are a bit cheaper because you cut out the shop floor rental etc etc.

What you got in mind for a camera? Bear in mind i used to work with them so i can tell whether its good or not
