Bolero touch screen - scratch repair?

Featured Replies

My bolero touch screen has what can only be described as a small scrape, right in the middle of the screen emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Is there anyway to get this polished out / removed? I have googled loads of screen cleaners etc but do not want to try these until I am sure what type of screen the bolero is (LED / LCD or what? - I have no clue on this sort of thing) so I can be sure to get the right thing as it'll be a last resort and I do not want to make things worse.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks,

The Bolero uses a touch sensitive lcd screen.

There are several technologies used to implement this: optical grid, capacitive sensing, resistive film.

My guess is it's resistive film.

Anything that will polish the scratch will abrade this film and could badly affect the resistive sensing.

My advise it to leave it well alone, or put a well placed greasy finger print over the scratch !

I would search google or the bay for a new screen if it bothers you that bad, I know it would drive me nuts!

I may be wrong, but I've read that the top layer is an easily scratched anti glare coating, which can be polished off. I'd risk polishing it off then applying a screen protector like Mike suggested. If you apply these very carefully, on a spotlessly clean screen, making sure that you get any air bubbles out, then they are virtually invisible.

Must admit I am tempted to try polishing off (then putting on screen protecter) - someone, somewhere must have tried this before? Hopefully they'll post to say yeah do it (and how) - or nooooooooooooooo not a good idea. Alternatively, I'll try to ignore it (which I won't be able to do for long as I am like vRS_Pagey) and then give it a go when I have some cash to buy a replacement if I totally **** it up (probable) hmmmmm columbus? is it compatible with Fiscon (already fitted), wonder how much that'd be.

I shall try mikeholroyd's idea before polishing (unless someone has a define polishing fix they've done).

hmmm doubtful but worth a go i suppose. The most annoying thing is that it wasn't me who scratched it. It appeared today after a windscreen replacement. I am kicking off with them but I suspect they'll do the "undecent" thing. Just my luck at the moment, still I have a bought Euromillions ticket for tonight so may not be an issue - I wish ;-)

Facing the same problem here !

I still haven't tried anything. Replacement is whole unit and silly money. Just putting up with it at the moment but still pi55ing me off. Written letter of complaint to Autoglass (who's technician did the damage - but is denying it - surprise). May have to claim off my insurance.

If you're having a windscreen replaced by Autoglass I would now stand over them while they do the work.
