vRS - torn drivers seat due to wear

Featured Replies

Hello all. I will be selling my mk1 vRS in July and would like to gauge peoples opinions on my problem:

The drivers seat right bolster has a 1.5" rip in it due to wear & tear ('05 reg with 67k on the clock) - when I come to sell the car, should I spend some money and get it repaired (not sure how though, stitch it up?!) or maybe adjust the sale price accordingly?

Any recommendations on how to repair it?

All opinions are welcome!

Thanks, Steve.

It will make it harder to sell. My vRS had a large rip in the drivers seat (amongst other defects), the seller was having trouble shifting it and I got the car very cheap as a result.

I have since has a re-trim in leather and sold all the original seat covers (I still have one front seat base left)

Try and sew it up if you can, it will help a bit. Otherwise try and get a used replacement cover on here or Ebay.

Thanks for the reply.

My mother-in-law is a dab hand with a needle & thread so I might get her to have a look at it :)

I've watched a couple of seat cover sets on eBay but chickened out cos I'm not the greatest at DIY and replacing the covers looks a bit beyond me!

Anyone else had experience of dealing with a 'holy' seat?
