Map Switcher

Featured Replies

I seem to be going through tanks of fuel like nobodies business and would really like to be able to switch maps quickly. Is there a device that allows this? What's the advantages and disadvantages?

Ideally it would just have 2 maps, one with full power and the other with standard (low) power for cruising around with...

Haha, just dont hoof it everywhere

Wedge something under the throttle peddle so it only goes down half way ? :)

You cannot switch maps quickly, there is not enough memory in the ECU to store 2 maps to switch between.

You really have 2 choices,

1) go Revo and get a STS unit that allows you to alter some of the parameters, but its only tailoring the Revo map.

2) learn to be less gentle on the throttle, there is no reason why a remapped/modded car cannot be more fuel efficient than a standard one. My old remapped MK1 octy vRS certainly did more MPG after it was mapped, provided it was driven gently.

You can have realtime switchability but involves ecu out, some soldering and a bit of wiring. But you could literally have a toggle switch that you can use when driving.

How many miles are you getting to a tank then?

Ben can you fit this? :wonder:

I know Jabba where working on something but we never saw anything more from it

If you drive sensibly then you should be getting more mpg than you were getting with the standard map anyway.....

Even driven sensibly I notice a huge difference, the absolute best miles-per-tank I've got is 320 and that was a mixture of driving but still did over 250 of those miles cruising slowly on the motorway... I can easily see less than 200 miles per tank if I'm having fun which is quite a lot when fuel is £1.44 around here for the decent stuff. :wonder:

That is under 30mpg at the best and 18mpg worst. Perhaps it is the weight of all your mods? :) I have difficulty getting any less than 45mpg (or over 500 miles per tank) and I don't hang around.

What tyres have you got because rolling resistance/alloy weight does make a difference.

Won't be a weight or wheel issue.

Does seem a little thirsty.

I get well over 250 mile in mine off £40 which is just over 30 litres and thats around town plus some motorway.

Overfueling issue I presume
