Oil Light Flashing

Featured Replies

As the title says really, I turned on the engine ON the driveway (which is not flat) and the oil light beeped and began to flash.

Reversed the car from the driveway onto the flat road and turned engine OFF/ON and the light didn't illuminate, i then drove the car back onto the driveway and the light began flashing and beeping once more.

Whilst the car was on flat ground i did check the oil and its just below 1/2. Would this be the oil simply all going to one end whilst on the driveway or should i be calling the mechanic? I will give her an oil+filter change either way but obviously if it needs looking at i may as well hold out until after it has been checked(no point me spending £30 on fresh oil to have it drained out again).

Cheers

Nathan

That's probably the case, getting a false reading on a slope.

Park it on the flat and leave it a couple of hours to let the oil drain down, Then check your level. Top up if required and don't stress, It'll be a false warning!

Try parking it facing the other direction on the drive and see if it behaves itself!

Top it up then !

left the car on flat ground over night, checked oil this morning and theres plenty, light however continues to flash

Any more ideas, recommendations?

I have refrained from driving it this morning as i thought that was the best idea...

Cheers

If it is a red flashing oil symbol, then the problem is low oil PRESSURE - not low oil level. If it is low oil pressure - don't drive it.
