Service and Cambelt and Brakes Quote

Featured Replies

I would get

Cambelt & water pump-Indie- 300

Brake pads & discs 300 both rear & front..indie

and 40k service done from skoda 239 makes it total 839 GBP

Aye, my brakes were a slightly more expensive even at an indy as the dismantling took a bit longer than they thought, after 104k the backs (4x4) took some swearing to get them free! http://ww1.briskoda.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Hi, sorry to drag this up again. I got a quote from Motorline in Dartford:

40K service = £229.01

Cam belt = £289.95

water pump = £41.89

Front pads and discs = £278.28

Rear pads and discs = £235.68

Brake fluid change = £19.95

Total = £1094.76

All the above costs include fitting and VAT

I'm not gonna have the brakes done, had them checked and still have a good few thousand left in them, but the cambelt and pump change at motorline is really cheap. The double checked the price and its correct as they are doing a deal on them at present

Well I've dropped the car off at Motorline Dartford for a cambelt, water pump, brake fluid and service. They gave me a new Micra auto for free, well just for the day :) I'll let you know how it goes once I have it back.

Rear brakes need a special tool to screw back the pistons on my 1.9, presumably yours would be the same. It's possible to do without this tool but quite difficult I'm told. I borrowed a universal tool from a local mechanic, most of them have them.

It is easy to inspect pads and disc condition without dismantling. My rear discs look a bit rusty at the edges at 100k but seem to be the originals. Pads were well worn though. Apart from the special tool, pads and discs are easy to change. Put grease on the disc retaining screws, especially if keeping your car for a while. Also a good opportunity to clean and paint the calipers. The 1.9 seems to have cheaper discs,I paid under £100 for front and rear Ferodo pads plus new front discs.(trade prices)

Right sorry for the delay, I got the car back today, supposed to be Friday but due to the M25 being closed best part of the day, the cambelt/water pump kit was stuck in traffic and when it was delivered tey didn't have enough time to fit it, which is fair enough. Lee from Motorline was great at keeping me updated, I kept the Micra for the weekend. Well, the car is fine, sounds better than when it went in and the bill was 4p cheaper lol. Top marks to Motorline Dartford and Lee from service, will definitely be going back to them, spot on ! They were £570 cheaper than Sherlodge for the same work. Highly recommened

Unedr the gov rules on warranty's for service/repairs, the parts have to be oe parts and the garage has to be vat reg. what the last part proves. As for a bought warranty even from skoda dealer check the small print you may find you can use any parts that have the eu mark, as they are regarded as good as oe parts.
