It looks very nice, but the running cost will be higher, not sure what expenses you would encounter in another 10 or 20k miles.

80ltr fuel tank, over £100 to fill it up.

What's wrong with your Superb? or is it just itchy feet.

you could keep the costs down by doing funerals at weekends

hi ray, the superb is a great car but i have always liked estates but could not stretch to the superb estate. my last car was a 320 c class estate good engine but the rest of the car was rubbish. i need to just have a test drive in this car to see if its as good as the superb .bill

Ok, so i considered one of these a few years back, but they are thirsty, expensive to repair and useless on snow etc.

29 mpg compared to a 170 dsg superb estate at 46 mpg

The figures are showing it as 325 ft lbs which I believe is the pre FL model. The 170 has only 258 ft lbs I think?? If it is the pre FL model I would steer clear as they had many technical and quality issues. The SBC was dropped from the E class after a couple of recalls as it had continuing problems. If you plough through the Merc forums you'll find plenty of advice in going for the better FL'd model. It was FL'd in 2006 but I can't remember which month.

Having owned a Merc in the past, never again. They are expensive to run, expensive to service and insure. The build quality is nowhere near that of the superb, yes they look nice but are very boring to drive whilst your wallet empties. I paid 12K for an entry level C class at 3 years old, sold it for 4K 18 months later.

You are looking at a 6 year old car, that cost more than 37K new, has lost more than half its value now, and because there is a newer model will loose a lot more money yet.

i know the superb is the better car having already had a merc before the superb, so why do i want another mercedes HELP????

Reliability on the earlier W211 E-Class wasn't a strong point but that one being a facelift should be a lot better.

Repairs can be ridiculous though. If it's got AIRmatic the pumps have a habit of breaking and the pump alone is £340.

They are nice cars though, just make sure it's got the right spec.

Hi, I thought i would put my 10p worth. I have just sold my E class estate 320cdi sport. I must say I was really disapointed with the car, you are looking at over £200 for each rear tyre as the rears are larger than the front. Build quality is not tha good, and if you read the forums about the auto box there has been lots of problems with them that merc dont know how to fix. From 2007 Merc tried to address the problems with the car, the engine went from 3.2 to a 3.0. £245 tax a year which might go up again in March, very expensive to fix when they go wrong which they do quite often. The car is very comftable on long trips I must say. It has a lot less leg room in the rear than the Superb. When I purchased the car I was expecting it to be the dogs but it was far from it. I had A bump in it which the car needed a new wing, headlight, bumper. The car went to a Mercedes dealer to be fixed it went back another 10 times to put there fix right. In the snow and ice it was a joke. So if you dont need the car in winter and have loads of money it could be the car for you!!! Have fun.

Well went for the test drive too say i was disappointed would be putting it mildly.

the build quality compared to the superb is poor to say the least.plus the seats are manual to move backwards and forwards.no room in the back for a car this size is appalling the steering felt like i was back in one off my old trucks.car looked nice but that's where it ends.where is my superb. bill

Mannyo said it before , expensive to service, really poor dealer communication. ( SWMBO has a Smart, try to avoid using main dealer )
