Replacement interior lights

Featured Replies

Evening all,

First of all apologies as this has probably been covered a number of times elsewhere but I can't seem to find it at all.

I'm looking to replace my interior dome light with led bulbs and have had a glance around and noticed a number available on ebay. I know that the middle one is a 42mm festoon but am not sure on the two side ones. Do they also need to contain a resistor so as not to show a canbus failure?

I'd also like to replace the boot and glove box lights with led's but assume that they may well be the same as the side dome lights.

Any help would be appreciated. It's on a 55 plate Fabia VRS if that has any impact.

Cheers.

I have ones like THESE in my side maplights.

Very white light compared to standard. And I have a 12 SMD led festoon cluster similar to THIS in the centre. It's like a ruddy sunbed in there now

grrr666 is the Fabia bulb master... Listen to him.

For the 501/t10's in the side map lights, if you get LED replacements, make sure they're not too long - must be similar length to normal filament ones to fit.

Speaking from experience here :smirk:

I had a 24 LED panel that was stuck on the outside of the plastic of the light as it was too big to fit in. It was like having a small sun on the inside of your car.

Most festoon lights will fit. You can get a few colours, I have a blue one in ATM

Cheers guys,

I took grr666's advice and have ordered the ones that he mentioned. Will see how they look next week!

I've now got the festoon one fitted and it works fine but for some reason the two side lights don't work. I ordered the same ones as GR666 mentioned and they didn't work so I brought a second slightly different set and they are still not working.

They are definitely the W5W 12v ones and when I put the old bulbs in they work. Anyone else had this problem?

I assumed you've tried rotating 180o them as LEDs are polarity sensitive? (Ie, as it's a diode power only flows one way, unlike a normal wire bulb.)

Beat me to it :)

Been there done that, threw one led away in temper thought I bought a dud. Tut tut. Know now though. :)
