Slight knocking while turning after new brakes?

Featured Replies

Had some new brakes all round (pads & discs) fitted on tuesday, since having the new brakes fitted I now have a very slight knocking almost creaking sound while turning while driving. Could this be something to do with the new brakes? Could it be once the car was dropped back down to earth the already (maybe) worm bushes where disturbed? But on a 45,000 mile car? Anyone had any similar problems or know what the problem is? Cheers chaps.

I had a similar noise when I upgraded to 312mm on the front.

New discs, pads and calipers.

Kind of a clicky tapping noise when turning, most unnerving, it settled down after a bit (days and weeks) but not before I had the wheels off again and double, triple checked that I had done everything right.

I'm not saying that you've nothing to worry about but it could be the same thing. Not that I really know what it was you understand. Discs not quite perfectly flat? Pads needed to settle into position?

If you had the work done by someone else just pop back and tell them your problem, surely they will check it for your peace of mind.

I have done my rear discs and pads since this and no noise at all.

I too have a rotational noise when cornering left but I can't remember if it was there before I fitted my new brakes or not. I also fitted complete new callipers, discs and pads.

It doesn't happen when turning right though which is strange.

Maybe the brake hose rubbing on the wheel/strut? Make sure its secure. Or could be the springs rattling in the caliper? Just an idea.

Brake disc backplate too close to the disc. Easily bent while working on brakes. Either that or bolts not torqued up properly.

i have it turning to the right and not the left lol i didnt notice it for a long time ut now seems to be back :(
