Uprated Brakes For Octavia Vrs

Featured Replies

thats not true....four pot brakes are a big upgrade over the standard 1 pot vrs calipers!

6 pots can be too big as the Master cylinder can struggle to cope.

those brakes with 323/5mm discs should be a big improvement assuming the pistons are not too big!

I was basically refering to "Can I use my existing discs..."

Also four pot vs one pot it's not much of a difference for one stop.

There are other parameters more important such as friction area... ;)

Can't you get a set of R32 twin pots on it as an upgrade? You should be able to get a set reasonably cheaply.

I've heard from someone on SCN that the LCR Brembos are'nt amazing anyway. They have big discs, but the swept area is smaller than the 312's. Don't really know for sure though.

r32 stuff is heavy and only 2 pot, lcr stuff is an upgrade over 312 and r32 334 setups due to weight and extra piston force.

standard discs with a 4 pot caliper is still an upgrade and will provide consistant brake improvement especially with proper pads where the vrs caliper will not, however i would fit 323lcr discs at a minimum with the porsche four pot setup.

I use the Tarox 6 pot brakes (First green coloured ones done by tarox I was informed!) with 323mm disks and they stop very very well. Best buy yet! These are not a cheap upgrade tho, but worth every penny in my eyes as you can make a car goes fast, but its just as important to make it stop again. If you thinking of big brake upgrade these are a good choice brake pedal is very responsive, and feed you with confidence when braking, unlike the standard vrs set-up at speed.

These are a good match to the standard master cylinder, the pedal is there is soon as you touch it.

Hope this advice helps

I went for the LCR setup in the end. Its a straight swap. only thing is you need 5mm spacers to clear the callipers with the Spiders.

Its not just down to the contact surfice neither, more surface is more heat. just look at BMW their surface is narrow but they are large so more torque on them.

I got my full lot of LCR stuff for 450 with pads and discs and New lines from TPS also included the Paint mixed up.

The thing I found is getting the LCR stuff, all tho doesnt come up often is simple and not that expensive, also its made for the car and perfectly capable of stopping it. making your own kit up looks quite a bit more money and not a simple. if you get the wrong calliper you dont get the right brake force or pedal feel. The LCR brembos are spot on and a much better and higher bite point than my std 312mm.

ps on thoes ebay ones iirc they are a bit larger piston than the LCR ones. that 36mm and 40mm is the sixe of the outer circu of the dust covers.

so only 2-4mm bigger?

Ill see If I can find my old covers

lol, ne way mate, I want it to look as std as pos while being much better,

I have some Brembo stickers to go on but needed them on asap as I need the car daily lol and the paint is not layered good enough yet, was a case of spray a light cover then 2 thickish ones to cover lol. didnt know how it would last so didnt waste the stickers lol.

Soon as I get a week off Ill strip the paint off again and respray them nicely.

Same as the R32 front seats I have, soon as the funds allow and I find a good place to di it, Ill be getting them recovered to match the vRS seats lol.

all takes time tho, car will prob be dead by then lol

Skoda green - makes you wonder who came up with the colour ....
