TDI 90 undertray

Featured Replies

My undertray is a mess, the front end runs so low that the parking post in my work car space catches on it. Reversing into the space has now become a problem too.

Do I need it? Is it safe to take if off?

Cheers, Dave

Is your car lowered, or is the tray not correctly attached?

The tray provides sound deadening and helps to catch bits of the car as they fall off (aircon and alternator clutches)

It's cracked along the drivers side and is loose at the back.

Not lowered, just saggy !

Mine is a mess too since I reversed over a bollard that let me over it but not back out.

I have tried to locate some spare bits to put it all together again (and get rid of the duct tape that currently holds it all together)but these seem to be rarer than a dodo egg omlette.

I have been told in the past that the main function is sound proofing and to act as a crap guard to stop the engine bay getting dirty. The good members on here suggested that you can run without them but I havent gotten round to taking it all off yet.

Hope that helps.

Thanks all.

I made use of the decent weather today and stuck it on the ramps for a butchers.

There were 3 of the rear bolts missing, I popped a metal drywall rawlplug in each hole and screwed it tight with some spare self-tappers.

The cracks on the drivers side are held together with zip ties every couple of inches, it ain't pretty but it works.

One of my side pieces was broken (on the offside), so I used a few short lengths of aluminium pop-rivetted around the corner to fix it  Did that 6 years ago and it is still holding fast.

Definitely worth ensuring all the screws are in and secure.
