Coil Pack lifting

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Noticed that i have a problem with one of my coil packs lifting slightly. Checked the plug is in properly and that was fine. When i push the pack back down it lasts for a day or so and then pops up again.

I have looked around for hold down kits and the only one i can locate is the ECS one but this prices up at over fifty quid delivered with VAT. DOes anyone know if there are any cheaper alternatives which are any good?

Thanks as always for any help

Have you tried swapping the coil packs around to see if its the coil or the car?

Yep tried that mate. Same pack lifts when moved but works fine when pushed back in

So its the pack at fault then? I have a spare one you can have it posted for a tenner?

interested in how you went about getting a better deal PM me if needed.

I was going to wait to i visit US as they are only $40 a set.

I have a coil pack that lifts. PITA

yeah I contacted ecs directly but they wanted $50 to ship them.

there is a simple solution

on the 3 rubber flap on the coil pack that insert into the head cut a v in them and this will stop the coil packs from lifting

yes i asked awesome if they would do them any cheaper and they wouldnt, no club discounts anymore apparently

or refit them when the motor is redhot, but yea the main prob is expansion of the air under the coil pack I guess and the one that lifts is the best sealed one

I thought I saw a pic of an Audi 1.8T and it had brackets.

Someone might be able to get the VAG part code?

Thats the same one that sometimes lifts on mine lol. Why laugh? You solved the problem without having to resort to spending loads of cash on some bent pieces of metal lol

Looks like i'm gonna raid the gf's nephew's meccano set :bandit: lol

just make sure its not the original meccano as thats probably worth more than the hold down set lol!

those bracket in halfrauds (look like meccano) with the holes in probably would work to.
