Dash, top half cover/mat?

Featured Replies

Was at ultimate dubs on Sunday and saw a couple of fabias with what seemed like a different textured covering on the top half of the dash above the line, I'm sure it was on devonutopia's fabia outside.

Does anyone know what this is/where to get it from, is it straight fit or material that needs cutting?

Iv read a lot of stuff on here and never seen or heard of it!

Thanks

What reg do you have?

It changed 54/05

The newer design is nicer

Am thinking you mite mean flock. It's a process called flocking you have to send it off to some company it's the newish thing in dub

Flocking is used in Rally cars to reduce glare off the dashboard, and is Very light (in weight)!

Best way to describe it is shreded fabric, blown over a glued surface, just like you used to do with Glitter in school.

There are DIY kits on ebay but if you want it to last get someone pro to do it

It didn't look like it was flocked. If it is a facelift feature then that would explain it as mine is a pre-facelift

Was it like raised little circular dimples? That came in as part of the facelift.

My dad used to flock stuff. Probably why I'm here. :D

yes its part of the facelift....

looks much nicer not much you can do unless you want a new dash :o

I was thinking this over the other night.. It seems unlikely that Skoda made new molds up for the whole dash board? If Skoda can stick it on then there's potential for a DIY job if you can find a similar material.. it's pretty similar to all the non-slip pads you see in services, aint it?

You can get Alacantara (Suede) to go on the dash - I though of this on my old Ibiza FR.

Yeah my first thought was it looked like a thinner non slip mat, looks good and seems to break up the dashboard quite nicely.

i was kind of hoping it was a stick on job as it would cover up a scuff on the plastic i have on mine, might have a look round for a similar solution...
