Vrs wheel spacers

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted wheel spacers front and rear to fill the arches more???? I want to do this with the std wheels(vrs). If you have can you tell me what size you used and do you have any pics ?

Many thanks

Gary

yes i run a wider front track on my car by 15mm, make sure they are hubcentric.

If yo do this:-

1) Buy hub-centric spacers, and extended wheel bolts.

2) Get the car re-tracked by someone competent; your toe setting may have changed, and may need to be varied from standard.

3) Expect increased kick-back on rough surfaces (not bump steer; this derives from TCAs not being correctly aligned wrt wishbones) and "weight" because the self-centring action will be stronger.

hey good colour, shame you dont have the oe wheels still on.. Id love to be able to go as wide as possible.

im going to use H&R bolt on 20mm spacers with my spyders when they go on ( when the BBS's get a holiday )

not cheap but very cool B) offset calculators say the front of the spyders will sit where the front of my ch's are  a smidge out the arch  sweeet :giggle:

just be careful with your suspension if your wheels are going to sit out far, make sure its not too low otherwise it will cause wheel rub when going over large bumps etc

wheel rub...arsed...haha

lol, thats low, you had any rub yet?

problem is, my last set of tyres ended up with a nice grove cut around them where the arch was hitting going over lumps in the road at speed, not great at £400 a set

still they look cool!

it's all about the width lol

damn they are stretched, looks good tho!

215s stretched over the 9j rim, occasionally scrubs but not enough to groove the tyre

old school dubbin

Hi guys,

I am also looking at these. Mainly to go over brakes lol, Only looking at 5mm? front and back, will that be enough?

also where is a good place to get them? and whats so special about Hubcentrics?

billy

ps for 5mm spacers do you really need longer bolts?

also is it certain that 3mm is all thats needed to get over LCR brembos? if so can you use 3mm ones without longer bolts?

The points about hubcentrics are:-

1) They're machined to thickness both sides, so you don't build in a run-out which will give you tyre wear and brake pulsing issues.

2) They make sure the wheels centre correctly on the stub axles.

Nok knowing off-hand how far the stock bolts reach through the backplates I can't advise in detail, but for proper wheel retention (and you really really really want the wheels to stay on) the end of the bolt threads must stick through the backplate.

think i might have to follow suit ... got rubbing issues with my 18's on full lock :( ... any good places to buy them ?
