iPhone iOS 4.3

Featured Replies

Has anybody upgraded their iPhone 4 to iOS4.3 and noticed any changes in compatibility with the Bolero, either negative or positive?

Firstly, it has zilch to do with the Bolero. The BT is unrelated to the Bolero.

No, it hasn't yet to my knowledge affected anything on my setup. I have not noticed anything yet, I'm sure I've received and made calls over the last week since I installed it.

The bluetooth seems to be clearer (when used on a headset) as before the update if I had my phone in my pocket and was walking outside the quality was questionable at times.

Not noticed any difference with it on the Columbus though - but it was faultless before the update anyway.

No change noticed here either!

Phone lives in pocket now unless it needs a charge!

Ace!

Just curious - In my other car (a Defender), which has a Kenwood KIV-700 and KCA-BT300 fitted, I can change tracks (forward and back) on my iPhone (even of Spotify!) via bluetooth. On the Bolero, although I can play back music via Bluetooth, I can't change tracks via BT. Is this correct?

Compatibility involves two devices...the iPhone 4 and the Bolero.

Currently the media player interface on the Bolero does not have the option of skipping trackes forward and backwards, nor the possibility to Pause and Play.

Maybe I should have made myself clearer:

"Since the change to iOS 4.3 on the iPhone 4, has anybody noticed an increase in functionality/compatibility, for instance the FF, RW, Pause and Play option being accessible from the Bolero front panel?"

Or are youo saying that the Bolero is not the bluetooth device in the Yeti?

That's my experience also.

Very briefly (only once) the Pause/Play button lit up on the Bolero and I was able to use it. Hasn't done it since though

I have iOS 4.3 and have noticed NO change whatsoever.

What made you ask the question???

I know I can't play Fifa 10 anymore, and when I transfer albums from iTunes, it won't play the first track :swear:

That's the last time I upgrade the software

to be honest i cant see how the update can cause any of these problems that have quoted on here, as the only improvements come in safari and itunes home sharing

http://www.apple.com/uk/ios/

& Bug fixes

So pretty much anything could of been improved.

I havnt noticed any bugs with mine, wonder what they were

Personally if an item does not work like it should do then yes I would call it a bug, the iPhone4 was shipped with shocking bluetooth, the first OS update improved this, 4.3 seems to of improved it further.

Would you also say that loosing reception simply because you were holding the phone to your ear was not a bug either?

Anything that can be cured by an OS update is a bug to me, now if it needed a hardware upgrade then that is different.

Gizmo, sorry, but I disagree with you on the bug issue.

A bug is a piece of software that doesn't function as it's intended to. Just because there is a software update, doesn't mean the original software was 'buggy'. There will of course be software 'improvements' from time to time. But I can see where you're coming from.

The antenna issue you mention I believe was a design problem, and not a bug.

No id say its a design fault that cant be fixed by software upgrades not a bug, I've never lost reception yet, simply because it was in a case from walking out of the shop.

And on the bluetooth front, things are always going to be improved with each new update or they wouldnt bother updating the OS, so no i still dont class that as a bug, I class a bug for example, i've been running IE9 beta on my pc for a few months it works great then after a few hours the pages start crashing and then reloading when you try and click on a html link, I'd class that as a bug.

The bluetooth was the best they could offer at the time of release, they have since had time to improve it and updated it via the OS updates.

OK we will agree to disagree on that one, personally I don't think 6' is an acceptable range for a bluetooth device though, especially when others can do much better (but then so can Apple if you take the previous iPhone's into consideration)

To me a bug is still a piece of software that does not work as it is designed to, be that all the time or just every now and then.

I agree on that, apple have not gone overboard on thier updates, like making it so you can bluetooth anything to anyone like other phone makers, then introduce a better MP camera and screen resolution in thier next phone without actually introducing new things

What made you ask the question???

I spoke with Skoda UK yesterday and he said that, as I've managed to get an iPhone 4 and a 3GS both working correctly (except for the track controls) I should leave it well alone as very few people ever get it to work correctly.

I wouldn't want to upgrade the iPhone just for a slightly quicker Safari and find that it doesn't pair any more with the Yeti.

However, if people commented that suddenly the track control feature worked, I'd upgrade it straight away!
