Fabia 03 Emissions / CAT problem - need help (in Dublin)

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a 2003 Fabia that is failing it's NCT (=Irish MOT) on the emissions test. (CO is slightly high on low idle and high on high idle (.2 is fail and the reading is .36))

It has only about 50K on the clock, and has recently had new lambda sensors, wishbones and other work done, so I don't want to just scrap it.

But my current mechanic says the engine is a gonner. Other opinions are that it probably just needs a new CAT.

My local Skoda maindealer will charge €120 just to look at the car, and they have a fairly poor reputation.

So... can anyone recommend a good independent (south Dublin / Wicklow pref) that can diagnose and properly test and replace the CAT for a reasonable price if that's what's required?

Or any other thoughts about the emissions problem?

Thanks a lot!
