0-100mph time for new vRS

Featured Replies

I know this might be a bit irrelevant but I’ve been wondering what the 0-100mph times are for the new vRS. Not that I’m advocating this on a public highway, except maybe on a German autobahn. I’ve been searching high and low for the 0-100mph figure on the internet, but there doesn’t seem to be one. With a high power output and healthy torque figure, I would expect it to be in the high teens, which is a big improvement over the mk I vRS’s time (rumoured to be anywhere between 25 – 35 seconds). Can someone out there please confirm?

Not 100% on this either although I do believe that last months evo did a comparison with the clio 200, corsa vxr and polo gti (which cant be much different to the fabia vRS) unfortunately my brother has my copy so i dont have the figures :wall:

this is from a group test in EVO magazine. The fabia will post neigh on identical times as the Polo GTI as its same engine, gearbox weight etc.

Clio 200ps

Cooper S JCW 210ps

Corsa VXR 190ps

Citreon DS3R 206ps

Polo GTI 180ps

Evo pitched an Ibiza Cupra against a Clio 200 a while back and that posted 100 in 19 secs, somewhat behind the Clio's 16.6! Not quite sure how they managed that given it was only a few splits quicker than the Polo GTi in the above test.

Interesting to see how much quicker the GTi is than the Corsa VXR given that it loses 10hp and torque to it. Also interesting to see how both the DS3R and Mini are so evenly matched given they have the same engine in rather different states of tune. Their performance is quite a bit stronger at the higher velocities than the other cars too.

Excellent. Thanks for the quick responses. The EVO article is very informative. I'm happy to go with the Polo’s times. That’s a pretty decent time it’s got then, despite having a wee 1.4 litre petrol engine.

It’s going to make my Octy vRS CRD feel pretty slow when I come to chop that in, though I’m not looking forward to the increase in fuel bills. Saying that though, a change in work location means that I’m going to be saving 100 miles a week commuting, so that should offset any increase in fuel bills.

Thanks again.

Hi There's also some Youtube footage. Search for the person "mambicek" on Youtube. On there you'll find a 0-60mph video where they actually go to 160kph (so should be similar to what you're looking for?)

Cheers!

Hmm, very interesting. So, for 0-70 (max legal speed), one could save 0.5 seconds compared to, say, a DS3. That means, if you could do this about 1.2 million times, you would have enough for a week's holiday. Cool!
