ISO fixings

Featured Replies

Does the Fabia vRS has rear seat ISO fixings for baby seats ?

I believe it does. If you lift the base of the seat you'll see some hooks sticking out that are the colour od the bodywork. I believe these are the isofix mounts.

They've been on all Fabias since the car was launched.

Yes they do, but I read a review that said they were'nt very well implemented...

To quote from the Skoda website...

'ISOFIX - Baby and child seats are available for all shapes and sizes. Isofix is a safe way of fastening baby seats directly to the car chassis.'

Are available makes me think you have to ask for them - but I could be wrong.

I think that was euroNCAP when they crash tested the Fabia.

If you have a lagoon blue metallic Fabia I'd suggest avoiding the link

It does in the latest model - not sure when they were introduced though as the 53 one I was told by the dealer does not have it.

I have an MY04 model. I have seen the hooks now. Cheers lads

When you put the seat in make sure it is rock solid and will not move around, there have been problems with people usong ISOFIX , where parents have'nt fixed the seat properly, and have been extremely lucky, they havent had an accident, and lost the child.

Steve

It seems like a lot of money for the seats as well :( - I like the concept however with a solid fixing to the car, in principle that should work really well :)

Car seats must be fitted properly - if you don't they're as good as useless during an impact. Annoying :(

Ivan - personally wouldn't bother using ISOFIX for the rear-facing seats - you'll find being able to take the whole seat out rather than extracting a sleeping baby will be invaluable... :D

The front-facing ones do suit ISOFIX better, but that's a while off for you yet! ;)

We had some good advice from Mothercare of all places, Apparently you shouldn't leave a baby in a car seat for more than 2 hours, they told us as the babies chin touches it's chest the amount of air the baby gets is reduce. We have had a couple of places tell us that other than Mothercare as well.

Sarah has got her eye on a pushchair, we walked into Mothercare and she went to one of the most espensive ones (

Yeah' date=' you're not supposed to leave them in the child seat for a long time - *however*, if you see a baby in a child seat, you'll notice their head will be laid back, so won't be touching their chest... :)

If you're going shopping, for example, you're unlikely to be longer than 2 hours, and it's useful to be able to take the car seat out and put it on the shopping trolley - especially as the baby will probably fall asleep on the journey...

Mothercare is pretty expensive for most stuff unless they're running a special - I ended up going to a small independent supplier who could do a better deal. This does rely on having a decent small independent supplier local though... :)

Slightly scary thread! We had planned to get skoda baby seats for the twins and upgrade to the next skoda seat as and when.Expensive business this so would like to get it right!

Couple of questions.Presume skoda baby seats are fine and you just order through your dealer.Secondly I presume my octavia has exactly the same isofix fittings as Jane's fabia (havn't checked yet).We can hopefully just stick the seats in whichever car.

Hope someone will say skoda baby seats are fine.Got yours yet Ivan?

Personally, I wouldn't buy a baby seat from a car manufacturer - it will just be a rebadged and remargined version of another car seat. You'd get more choice (ie. possibly a better product) and better value buying from somewhere which specialised in baby stuff...

Rob, we bought an Mamas and Papas seat last weekend, It can forward face or rear face, got good reviews in all the sites I read.

I'm looking at a M&P one for a forward-facing one - some of their stuff does seem a bit overpriced, but the car seats seem good value... :D

Oh, and Laurence - don't forget to negotiate heavily on discounts for ordering two of everything! ;)

Rob check out www.kiddicare.com we got all our stuff from their and they price match as well.

Get advise from a place like Mothercare for example, they'll know.

Also, the NCAP thing (which I just read) is odd as it point to passenger seat - I'd never put a child/baby in the front seat, so the wording is a little odd.

Must admit if something has been withdrawn from sale for safety reasons I'd expect it to be mentioned to the parents who purchased it via the dealer network however ;)
