I've been meaning to put up some better pics of the car since I got it last year but the weather has been so crappy the car has been constantly filthy. Got a good clean up today and it was sunny so I thought I'd throw together one of these threads. It's basically an OEM+ car at the moment with a fair amount of stuff I'd still like to do and will update as and when I get things on.

Factory options:

Heated seats

Cruise Control

ESP

Mods already done

181bhp/328ftlb, Custom JBS map

Forge Front mount intercooler

Helix Clutch and SMF

PD160 intake

Allard EGR bypass

Milltek cat-back

TT 312 front brakes with Zimmerman drilled discs

Eibach lowering springs

LCR splitter

17" spiders

Seat Sport strut brace

Jabbasport RARB

Seat surgeons leather seats and door cards - very dark grey to match the trim with off-white/light grey middles.

Alpine CDA 9847r Head Unit with ipod control box.

Oh, and I got round to sticking the plate holder to the rear today because the number plate was about to drop off

Future plans

Audio:

Fit Alpine IDA x100 Ipod headunit (navigating through 1500 albums on the older alpine unit is literally a nightmare). Purchased but not fitted.

Fit Focal Polyglass VR S Components and van damme cabling. Purchased but not fitted.

Fit JL Audio XD400x4 amplifier. Purchased but not fitted.

Fit JL Audio 12w3v2 sub into a shallow false floor above the spare wheel. Purchased but not fitted - I currently have a spare wheel well box for this but having a spare wheel is not something I can give up.

Sound deaden front doors inner and outer skin, boot floor, wheel arches and tyre well, possibly roof and rear doors if I get round to it. Still to buy deadening - thinking of Silent coat or Loudboys as it is highly regarded on Talk Audio.

Double din HU in the future possibly but we'll see.

Suspension/chassis/wheels/brakes:

15mm spacers at the rear. Purchased but not fitted. Probably some 10mm ones at the front depending on what I do about wheels.

Cupra or powerflex console bushes, powerflex or superpro bushings throughout maybe, we'll see how it feels with new console bushes.

Possibly new Dogbone bush as I feel it will tighten everything up and the helix clutch and SMF already make the car sound like a tractor while idling with your foot off the clutch ;)

Coilovers - Probably JOMs or FK streetlines if I'm honest as it's really just for cosmetics and a little less body roll. Weitecs would be nice though.

Really want something different but I haven't made my mind up or got the money together yet. Looking at some really nice 17x8.5j Merc 7 spokes but the width could cause problems. I am certain I want simple 6 or 7 spoke wheels, or BBS RCs/RS2s, possibly in white.

I'd like some 256 rear brakes, even had a set but they were for the golf 4wd platform and would have been a pain to fit so I'll keep my eye out.

Engine:

Hybrid or maybe just standard PD150 turbo so I can run it at higher boost. Things are dialled down a bit as I want to keep the turbo running happily just now. It would just be for reliability. I'm not that fussed about going for big power as I'm not into thrashing the car. I just want something that has hearty pull through a big chunk of the rev range for overtaking and little smile moments. Remap to suit the new turbo and map out the Engine light which has been on since the EGR bypass was put in. Probably be happy round the 200bhp mark with a nice smooth map.

Other:

I'll probably get a smaller aerial at some point and consider painting the grill trim, maybe a light window tint. Will paint the strut brace green instead of red at some point and probably update the VRS badges to the Mk2 style.

Then again, I've been thinking about selling the VRS so I can fulfil a dream and get a nice Mk1 VW caddy as my own daily and buy a little run-around for family duties. It's possible that if I cave in none of this will happen :D

Any thoughts, suggestions, hatred, appreciation or, more importantly, cheap places to get any of the stuff I want... post on!

Thanks, Dougie.

That looks absolutely spot on! The stance looks great on the spiders, and SO shiny... Wish mine looked that good! Maybe just a colour coded grill will finish off the looks nicely. Well done.

Marc

Looking good. That's exactly how I would have the seats if I had a retrim.

Pffft, Skoda put them in the wrong place. :giggle:

Except the v logo is in the wrong place

I had the v logo moved up the seat when I had a re-trim, looks better there IMO

Love the spec of the car Dougie, wish I'd bought one with all that done to it!

Looks very nice, looks like mine but cleaner ( not for long though :giggle: )

could you put some more pics up of the milltek exhaust please, i want one and i'd be able to get a good idea of how it looks.

Thanks Ryan.

Will do mate. I'd not touched it over winter so it was a bit manky and I had a go at it with stainless steel polish which has diminished the visibility of the logos. Still, its very shiny.

  • 2 months later...

with the miltek and intercooler though why isnt it running more power? i just have the upgraded clutch and a jabba map and i have simular figures, (179bhp 340ftlb torque)

love those seats, im gonna have to get a leather re trim soon
