Exhaust hangers + Engine mount stretch bolts

Featured Replies

Evening guys,

This week hopefully my jetex cat back and de-cat pipe will be arriving and should be fitted next weekend. Now i've also bought THS engine mounts.

Basically can i get all the exhaust hangers from skoda themselfs (mine are sagging), if so, how many are there as my local skoda has been less than helpful in the past.

Also will they have the stretch bolts on the shelf?

Cheers

For the exhaust you will only need the back box mounts. Thereare 2. ONe right at the area just before the rear bumper and one just before the rear beam.

You can get these and the Stretch bolts from dealer, but do not expect them to be on the shelf. You will need to order them. Usually takes next day if ordered before 3pm. Well does in my local VW garage whihc is far better servce than the skoda dealership.

Tha cambelt side engine mount is a pig if you are doing it yourself

Cheers bud, Wont be fitting them myself. Having the mounts and exhaust fitted for £80 so cant complain. My days of scratched knuckles and effing and blinding are over

Ok, so i just rang my local dealer, who didnt have a clue how many hangers the standard exhaust system has. Third dealing with them when they done have a clue. "how many hangers does it have mate?"....How do i know? thats why i phoned you.

Does anyone know how many the full exhaust system has? and part numbers? Also been told i dont need to replace the bolts for the enigne mount?..

Why would you expect the parts man to know how many hangers your exhaust has? Their generic parts diagrams may well contain insufficient information for them to interpret your parts needs correctly, hence the question. It's your car, so you're in the best position to know exactly what parts are needed. They match often vague parts descriptions to specific vehicles (if the customer gives them the VIN, sometimes the customer cant even remember what model their car is), they're not workshop staff and I beleive that they have advised you incorrectly over replacing the engine mount bolts.

I sort of see where your coming from, however i'm an engineer myself and when i talk to my customers on the phone when they seek advice, i know each machine inside out, and there's a fair few of them which are fairly complex on an industrial scale.

The guy works in the parts department, you'd of thought he'd have a fair amount of knowledge on an octavia :wonder: .

Im pretty sure the parts diagrams will show the exhaust mounting system, surely.

It is not a cause of expect the Parts man to know , but expect the parts man to look it up and check the Parts system for the hangers then, or kindly goes and asks a mechanic, whatever the case maybe he should offer a better service than he did. It is a part is it not, and they are trained at looking at there parts systems that these days have a very good screen shots of the parts and what is needed for which car. My VW garage does this no problem. Although I do check myself before hand.

Don't trust anybody...
