hi all,

was out washing my wee furby today and have discovered a damaged area of paintwork at the rear wheel on the cill :(

Looks kinda odd and im not really sure if its rusty or the paint clear coat has a flaw. im no paint expert so would be very greatful for your advice

the car is only a year old and havent noticed any prior chips in the paintwork at that area

Thats one hell of a stone chip, have you driven in reverse quickly over mud recently. Another clue, look at the plastic liner in the pic as that is also showing signs of being hit by the object.

That's not good :( -- better get that sorted ASAP otherwise it will spread and cause you loads of trouble - if there is bare metal get it covered pronto.

hi sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but that looks like a healthy dose of old rust to me. Has the car had any repairs in that area lately? It's hard to get an exact idea from the piccys but a new wing looks to be your only remedy hence me asking if it has been repaired as the repairer should guarantee their work like we do

Hi jimvrs, I took it to the garage today and they said it was probably as the result of a stone chip which got water in behind the paint and caused it to alter its appearance. they scraped it back and touched it up. I too thought it was rust but they said there was no evidence of bodywork deformity. Nope there has been no repairs undertaken in that area, I've had the car from new.
