Rear badge damage

Featured Replies

My car it about 15 months old. The rear Skoda badge in the middle of the boot lid looks as though water has got into it around the edges, making the chome edges have some kind of water staining on it. Is this usual? Any suggestions on how it can be rectified? Warranty claim?

Mine is doing the same mate - planning to stop in at the dealer and ask for it to be replaced.

Yep, seems to be a common problem. It happened to my wife's Fabia vRS SE and we got the badge replaced under warranty, no problem. To be honest, I don’t think any dealer will hesitate to replace it under warranty. After all, it doesn’t say a lot of positive things about the brand if their cars are driving about with scanky badges. It just screams “if they can’t get the basics right, what about the rest of the car?!?â€.

Maybe that’s why Skoda have decided to change the design of the badge. Let’s hope it’s more robust than the current design! We can only hope!

Had one replaced on my Superb 2 , 12 months later the replacement has gone the same way however the one on my 56 plate Octavia is fine

Cheers for the replies. Will contact the dealer and report back

Yes, it seems to be quite common.

My car is out of warranty so i changed the badge myself at the weekend.

Was replacing it easy?

Yes, fairly easy i guess. Poor hot water over the badge and spray some lube behind it (i used QD). Get some dental floss and poke it behind the badge. Work it from left to right until it cuts through. Repeat the process from the bottom. Next unclip the plastict trim inside the boot to gain access to the rear of the badge and you should be able to work it off. Close boot, clean excess sticky stuff off with white spirit. Final wipe clean the carefully stick new badge ensuring to get it central. It has 2 locating pins which help. Job done!

My yeti is 5 months old went into underwoods colchester because of same problem, the guy there took photo, in case he had to send it to skoda head office. but as I pointed out there were 5 cars on the forecourt with the same problem. So hopefully it should be sorted out no problem, ill wait and see. "Not a good look" skoda should automaticly up date these badges as their very poor.
