Just asked for quote from my local Skoda Dealer {Withams} for 10,000 first service, Not just the Oil and filter change, but the service and yearly check.

They quoted incl v.a.t and parts 195.00, Seems expensive !!!!

Thought I would check with local Seat dealer, {Spur Garage} for comparison they wanted 219.00.

am I missing something?

You have to have a 10,000 check and a yearly check compulsory? or is it similar to the Mondeo I used to own which you had to get it checked every xxx miles or 1 year whichever came first?

What happens If I don't want them to change the oil (because I have some at my house) or the air filter ( I have a green panel filter  ), what else do they change/do?

and also an inclusive 3 year warrenty may sound good but its just a way they can hold you to ransom and get you back there for the services so they can actually make some money from you

They charge Skoda for any parts which need replacing including labour time so they make money just like they would off you.

The Service Schedule which comes with the car contains details of what each service type entails.

At that price, its probably almost worth driving hundreds of miles away to save a hundred quid

As I have said before servicing is EITHER 10k miles or 1 year, which ever comes first.

If you do 10k miles before the year is up then you have a 10K lube and dont need to come back for another 10k or another year.

So the vRS has a lubrication service every 10K or 1 year, whichever comes first, then an inspection service (which includes a lubrication service) at 20K or 2 years, whichever comes first? Presumably that's why it is called an extended service regime?

Not quite.

Easier way to explain it is if your doing more than 10k a year you have the following.

10k lube

20k inspection

30k lube

40k inspection and all filters/plugs

50k lube

60k inspection and so on

After each service if the mileage then drops below 10k a year you will need a service 1 year after the previous one.

i.e

1/1/2005 10k lube service

1/6/2005 20k inspection service

1/6/2006 25k annual inspection

I'm glad my car is on variable servicing. Much easier to understand. :(

So what is included in the annual inspection in your example, Ross?

All sounds like VW group standard practice.
