Wheel refurb!

Featured Replies

The quality of work at Spit & Polish is very good. Not seen anything from the other places.

They seem a bit hit and miss at the moment with some pretty shocking work being turned out

So it looks like (name removed due to my personal experience of the being less than favourable) are by far the best in Kent at the moment and cost £64 for an 18" wheel (c/w tyre)

Is that quote inc VAT? I only ask, as the best quote I recieved from them was just under 300 quid all in for 4.

A word of caution I must add.

I have been to two local wheel refurbished companies with totally different ways of doing alloy wheels.

First one, would break the tyre bead away from front of wheel use paint stripper, repair then repaint front of 5 alloy wheels only, for £225.00.emoticon-0149-no.gif

Different rates for different sized wheels were charged, although not a lot approx £30.00 overall.

Second one, removed tyre, valve stem and weights, placed into chemical stripper overnight. Repaired kerb damaged rims, undercoated and powdered sprayed and baked in oven.

Then added a clear lacquer.

Refitted new valve stems, and balanced all wheels.

Had 5 Alloys done £293.40 all-in. To say what a WOW!! factor to finish, is to say the least, better than originals, worth every penny.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

PS:- left car at their premises overnight and collected car late next day.

The 2nd process you mention is exactly what Lepsons offer, if I can get all 4 zeniths done for around the 250 quid mark they will be doing it, spare wheels are standing by.

On their website they quote £53.00 + VAT (£63.60 inc VAT) per wheel for black, white, grey or silver, that is for a wheel fitted with a tyre (£6 cheaper for bare wheels).

I am awaiting a return phone call from them to confirm these prices and to give me a turn around time, if both are acceptable them I will be hopefully going up there today (there is room in the boot for another 4! :giggle: )

They have just confirmed the above prices (£53 + VAT) depending on the extent of any damage, they are really busy at the moment so are looking at around 7 working days to complete the refurb.

Thanks for the info mate, I think my quote was higher as I am looking at either the black or smoked chrome finish - probably the later.

When you go up mate I don't s'pose you'd be a pal and ask for the price for the above finishes, just as a second opinion? ;)

No problem, not sure when I will get time now though as I had to wait in for a parcel to be collected today, should of been collected AM and they arrived mid afternoon

Hopefully it will be in the next few days.

I dropped my alloy off their earlier and asked the question for you - the chromed finishes are £65 + VAT each

Pretty impressed with the size of the outfit they have there, they even have a separate unit per stage of the re-furb!

They also have a good sample of the colours they can do

Non chromed ones are £53 (+VAT) each and they are supposed to be one of, if not the best refurbishes around, I looked at several sets that were waiting to be collected and they were all flawless

Used to work opposite Lepsons in Gillingham, the guy who owns it is a nice guy, started of doing wheels in the shed in his garden. Then had the one unit in gillingham and has grown to what they now.
