Need some advice..

Featured Replies

Evening guys,

Ok, so I had my de cat pipe fitted today along with my jetex cat back system with some FR tuning engine mounts.

Whilst driving the car back from the garage it sounds very loud from the front end on full throttle but I can't work out weather its blowing or not.

There's also a banging at low revvs, sounds like the downpipes hitting something but its dark and can't see what.

Its overfuelling like nhra dragster and I'm pretty sure fumes are entering the car as my clothes smell funny and I feel sick. Will this change when I have the rear sensor mapped out?

Any help would be great

uprated engine mounts didnt make it sound like the exhaust was blowing on my last car, gave it more of a growl from the front, fumes should deffo not be coming in the cabin, you will be able to smell the fumes if standing behind the car though. thats the thing with getting things fitted at the same time you dont know whats changed what noises lol

Sounds like it isn't fitted properly and is leaking You should definitely not be able to smell fumes in the cabin.

I think its just because its overfuelling quite badly at the minute.

Got a very bad noise when pulling off tho, its as if the downpipes hitting something. I can feel it through the steering wheel so maybe the rack etc? I also read somewhere that people had issues when fitting a decat with the heat sheild?

It seems that the de-cat is very close the the subframe of the car and i can only assume that its causing it to vibrate under load / turning + pulling off, just had a quick peak now. Sigh..

engine mounts will cause a vibe. I had my dog bone mount polybushed and it's still very vibey.

engine mounts are well and truly not needed on a road car and will cause loads of vibration issues

I've got powerflex and superpro dog bone bushes and since fitting the superpro the vibration is terrible! So much so that I'll be taking it off as soon as I get the chance.

Even if it is over fuelling still should not get fumes in the cabin, don't sound quite right.

A lot of the decats do hit the steering rack heat shield especially if mounts are worn. But as you have changed yours you still might need to bend down the heat shield to get better clearance.

Dogbone bushes are vibey when first fitted, they settle down though

Agree as they are quite harsh on std cars and roads and cause vibration through the cabin.

It has to go somewhere....

Bad mix powerflex and superpro. If you change your rear dogbone bush for a superpro i think it will match better.

I'll have to take it back to the garage and get it sorted then. More hassle.

You'd be suprised how good the mounts are, they don't vibrate at all when driving. I had group N's on all my peugeots and they were bad, but I like firm ride.

It pulls very very well with the de cat fitted. Above 70 it pulls like a train.i

Have fitted the gearbox side Vibratechnic mount to mine... the verdict is I have a little more vibration over standard, but the main difference is the noise (chatter) I now hear from my alloy SMF..... Thats only when its sat idling with the clutch out though......

Feels much more stable on the front end!

I have the engine mount to fit this weekend. Will do a full write up/pics when all finished.

So far though it's all goooood!!!

80% sure its the bottom heatsheild thats causing all the greif. Tried to remove it today but it looks like i need a pit/lift to gain access.

+1 it will be that heat shield.

Don 't remove it just bend the end down, I did mine also you will need to get your car mapped for the fueling..
