Thought this made for an intersting comparison

On the way to work this morning, came off a roundabout at about 25mph onto my private 4 lane track with an audi A3 just behind me...he pulled out to overtake just as i was putting my foot down.....needless to say about 1/2 a mile later he was approx 15 car lengths behind.

He was definitely giving it all it had (he really wanted to get past my skoda ) having already started the overtake....and he did a dodgy overtake at the next roundabout in the right turn only lane!

Thats when i saw his badge, 1.8T

I'm guessing it was probably the 150bhp version?? but anyway, i was very proud of my standard furby So he got past me in the end by cheating, but i wonder which one of us was smiling.

My brother in law used to have an A3 with the 1.8T. Was around a W plate and couldnt' pull the skin off custard so I'm not suprised.

What Fabia is it? I'm assuming a vRS... wonder if he was really trying. I've had a few run-ins with those and there was precious little in it really.

i am convinced he was trying very hard due to his driving style and the speed we both ended up at :eek:

The surprising thing for me was the similarity! After initially pulling away 10 car lengths with a nice torque wave in 3rd/4th he pretty much stayed put a fair distance back...but he certainly wasnt gaining...until i braked for the roundabout and he sneaked past in the wrong lane like i said.

I hate the way vws and audi's are subtly badged sometimes...you never know which gt tdi you are looking at for example could be 115-150bhp!

Apparently some bmws are being debadged at dealers now because they were being stolen to order so much and people like the anonymity (spelling?)

Ummm a 150 bhp A3 would match a standard vRS IMO. Even the stats are similar, im not saying he wasnt trying, but 15 car lengths is a lot by anyones standard, if I pulled 15 car lengths on my fionc

Not played with A3's... S3's are good fun tho as we just sit neck and neck from every corner \ roundabout... Can't beat em and they can't beat me!

To be honest car lengths is open to debate, maybe i meant 10 smart lengths

I did pull over for another A3 a few weeks ago, but when i saw it was a 3.2 quattro i was actually quite happy, it wasnt too bad an effort!
