Boost valve

Featured Replies

I know chavish, but I just fancy it for a bit of a laugh. There are valves for 55 quid but do you need the whole kit or just the valve. How easy to fit also. Cheers for any replies.

Any links so we can see the actual valve your talking of

If your talking about the forge bov spacer its just a cnc milled bit of aluminium with some o rings fairly easy to fit if you have some short headed torx keys. Quick hint let the engine cool down before you fit it (i didnt lol)

Yeah that's the one I'm talking about. I work at an engineering Cnc workshop so I've got all the torx keys. If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay and how does it preform. Janner it's the one duffman has. Cheers for the quick response .

It should be available from a few places, try Forge themselves. It won't make any difference to performance, just extra sound. YouTube it, there are loads of videos with sound clips.

Alternatively, Forge also do a dedicated BOV kit for the 1.4 Twincharged engines, see below:

Yeah that's the one I seen on forge, but to be honest a bit too expensive for me just now. Then I seen the spacer one at 55 pound. That's what I was wondering can you just use the spacer at 55 quid or do you need the whole kit. I know it won't effect performance that's why I just want something cheap it might also end up coming off if I don't like it.

Thats exactly why i bought it didnt want to spend 160 quid and not like it lol and it makes no difference to performance and i only really notice it when im giving it the beans.

When drivin normally you cant hear it over the radio but u might still be able to hear it outside im

Not sure.

And all you need is the spacer the bolts and seals come in the kit.

Worth buying if you like the sound

Cheers duffman. Where did you get yours from and how much did you pay. Is it easy to fit.

This is the one in question.http://www.revolution247.com/images/forge/recirc-dump-valves/FMDV14TSi.jpg.

I got mine direct from forge you wont find one anywhere else cheaper unless its second hand.

It was 62 quid in total with postage.

And fitting it the clearance is tight but its relativly simple to fit and you will have to take off a couple of hoses so as long as you remember where they go youl be fine.

Theres instructions in the box anyway

Duffman is that the one that you purchased. Cheers in advance

I genuinely dont know why you'd want to do this to your vRS, it will sound ridiculous and it wont improve it's performance. If you can stand to lose your warranty just get it remapped, it will sound even better then! :-)

I know mate. I was just toying with it .

Yeah thats the one i have

And i personally dont think it sounds that bad but i seriously would not pay 160 quid for the new kit

Thanks for the help duffman. Think I will go for it and see how it is for myself

Bought one of these this week. Buggered if I can get the bottom screw off the factory valve! Used a T25, T30 allen key type device but just couldn't get the screw moving! Such a tight space! Any suggestions as i really want this to work.

Is this the "Pretend I'm an EVO IX" mod for the vRS?

I have some individual screwdriver bits which i used a rachet spanner to turn its fits easily and you can still turn it plenty you may well be able to do it with a normal spanner im not sure.

I like the evo remark though lol

I do like the wastegate chatter noise you hear on some rally cars, is there a mod to add that without adding the dump valve (that sounds like the brakes on a bus) ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wastegate#Wastegate_chatter_myth

Rally cars run 'anti lag' a whole different kettle of fish!

I'm ignorant on the subject but my buddies old Astra coupe turbo used to make the noise.

+1
