Some of my stuff.... [56k warning]

Featured Replies

Ohh, just noticed this forum, have been an ameteur photographer for years now. Starting to get a bit better at it but I've a long way to go yet.

Anyways, here's a mish-mash of stuff I've taken over recent months...

That's enough for now :D Thanks for looking.

Some great shots there! Love the one looking out to sea!

Look! Someone's piled up some bricks in the penultimate shot. Clever use of the macro!;)

Oh, and in case my humour isn't obvious, I DO know what it is ;) Driven past it a few times :D

Some cool shots though. I like the one with the sun in it best. :)

Love the shots of the stream

Nice pics Rich, what equipment do you use?

I really must go digital, I have so many slides and prints sat in boxes rotting away...

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Dunkx: The first two were taken with a Canon 10d and Canon 28-105mm usm zoom. All of the rest were taken with my old 4 megapixel Olympus c4000z. I've been digital for about 3 years now and loving it. It's so much more convenient!

If anyone wants wallpapers I can post higher res versions. Let me know which ones you're after.

The stream shots are easy to do although you need a tripod of some kind (anything from Jessops for a tenner will do). Here's how:

- Whack the camera (not literally obviously) on the tripod and set the mode dial to "shutter priority mode" or "tV".

- You'll get the option to set how long you want the shutter open for so set it to be somewhere between half a second and two seconds.

- Carefully press the shutter release so that the camera doesn't shake or if the camera has it, set the self timer so that your hands are well away from the camera before it fires.

That's it pretty much. You can also use this technique for making light trails of moving cars. similar to this

I've added an unobtrusive watermark top right, hope you don't mind. Images are 1024 (exactly) x 768 (ish). If this is inconvenient, post your desktop size and I'll make them fit for you :)

Rich, I like the stream ones to. Any chance of those at a res of 1280x1024

Checked your site out. Youve got some good pictures! looks all pro to me not amateur! An inspiration for me. I will be taking digital media at uni, so I might go out and try out taking pictures.
