No not april fools remap cost money not all minted

£250 for a full custom remap, hardly need to be minted. Start doing stuff to your engine using eBay parts that you don't know what they do you'll soon get some big bills. Then you'll need to be "minted"

Hi Matt,

I can only guess you've got one of these.

As you can probably take away from the posts above I don't believe there have been any positive reviews of this sort of thing, a quick Google brought up this thread in which someone has taken the 'tuning chip' apart and found it contained just a resistor as JLneonhug alluded to above.

Really not a good idea mate, its likely to do damage to your car and obviously you will have to declare the modification on your insurance in order to keep that valid, which at least for my insurance would cost a lot more than £20. If I were in your position I'd probably just put it back on eBay at £15, cut your losses and put the money towards some better quality modifications.

If you are looking to get more out of the Fabia vRS your best bet would be to do it properly, look at some of the performance companies reviewed on this site and get the full picture before you part with your cash, there is a lot of potential in your car but trying to increase performance with a modification like this isn't going to end well.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Patrick

im gonna say 2 words, BIN IT!! you will end up forking out alot more than the cost of a remap when you f*#K the engine. but thats just my pennys worth

i know excatly wot it does chop increases fuel and boost

i know excatly wot it does chop increases fuel and boost

Unfortunately you are incorrect.

The resistor plugs into the fuel temperature sender on the engine and changes the resistance of the loop going back to the ECU that reports the fuel temperature signal. The result is that the fuel temperature is read as a higher value. Hot diesel is less dense than cold diesel hence the ECU assumes it has to inject more to do the same job.

It does not and can not increase boost.

There you go, next time you say you know "exactly" how it works, you can actually correctly claim such

As ben has already said the part you have fitted cannot do anything to alter boost, all it does is cause extra fuel to be injected and the results you are already seeing. Lumpy idle because the mixture is all wrong is just the first of many symptoms. Next I'll guess the engine light will come on, and the turbo will gunk up with all the extra soot coming out of the exhaust. These things are really bad for you car, and should be avoided at all costs, wait until you can afford a proper remap and bin this so called chip before you end up spending 000's fixing your car.

If you can't afford to do something correctly, don't just bodge it. :)

Unless you know exactly what your getting yourself into. Which in this case you don't ;)

OP - Ever thought if it was that easy thing to do with no downsides why people pay 300+ for a remap? Or were you implying we're all a bit loopy for paying such prices?

or if you dont want to listen to the people who "actually know" then keep doing what your doing, at the end of the day, not if, but when you wreck your car, dont say we didnt warn you. were only trying to do you a favor, would be a shame to see a car wasted by a driver who just doesnt care for it enough to listen to some advice.

Fair play guys your like a bunch of bitchy moaning women the chips in the bin and i love my car and think it's awesome the instructions said increases boost and fuel i shud i know any different i'm not a mechanic or don't confess to much about turbos and boost as it's the only turbo car i've had think i'm sack of this remap chip idea if it was meant to have more power i'm sure skoda wud of done it i'm jus gonna enjoy it for wot it is

Fair play guys your like a bunch of bitchy moaning women

That would be 'you're'.

They're a bunch of people that know what they're talking about. This is generally a friendly forum- people aren't saying your Ebay resistor is **** to get at you, they're saying that because it's ****, and it will damage your car. As others have said, there's a good reason why a remap, properly done, is hundreds of pounds and this is twenty quid.

This is by far the friendliest forum I've been on.

Like CJB said, it's not getting at you, but it you want reliable power, a proper remap is the way to go, otherwise we'd all be running the resistor chips.

Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but it's good advice- seriously, they know what they're talking about. Sorry you got stiffed for £20, but that's life sometimes :(

these are mod's you do when your 17 to your corsa's!!

absolute trash... made me

sometimes to get a point across you have got to be harsh, we dont mean it to sound like were a bunch of dic*s but at the end of this what did you end up doing?, you listened and took the chip out!! if we hadnt been harsh you would have still been running it, so it shows that you knew we were being serious.

take us as you please though, but if you continue calling people stuck up etc, we'll end up not giving you advice in the future. The only way to learn is to listen to people who know ;)

shark_90 and mannyo's comments are accurate, these things will happen, anything else said seems a little unnecessary really.

Well done for taking it off. It would have damaged your engine had you left it on.

Jesus, you ask for advice, because its not what you wanna hear, you get the arse lol
