Console bushes

Featured Replies

Hi quick question before u go an buy copper slip can anti seize copper grease be used to put the console bushes back in or not

Thanks

You double posted this!! :giggle: Errr.. are they oem type or Powerflex/ Whiteline type? If OEM then maybe not (only thin layer) or just use WD40 to help ease them into place. You can coat the hex peg of the wishbone with copper-grease though, and remember to align it up correctly with the hex hole in the bush!!

Hey it's oem what a git the passenger side one was the bolt threaded in the sub frame managed to get it out eventually and re thread went to skoda to get new wishbone bolts and the ones the gave me were to small I did mention that to the guy an he just said that they had modified them and that was the one it went about 3 or 4 threads into my sub frame so not ample enough to hold it but by this time they ha closed the parts desk so off to the local motor factors in the morning to see if I can get the bolts from them I would imagine I can but if not it will be left in axle stand till probably Thursday next week which is my next day off ohhhh

Hopefully it hasn't knackered the thread in the console, they quite often do.

I have just had one changed. Is it advisable that I now get my wheel/suspension alignment checked?

I can't see it being much of a problem as the track rod have been undisturbed but if it feels off I will take it in to get done

Tech1e u managed to rethread the subframe but the bolt itself is a write of not too much of a major issue seeing as there only a few quid

I'd definitely get the tracking done. The bushes play havoc with the tracking.

When you say 'u'.. Do you mean 'i'?

I didn't think it caused that much of an issue, looks like I'll have to get that done just to be on the safe side, more expense :-(

Yea I've just noticed that lol

shouldn't be too pricey, I get mine done for £10 locally. If your paying much more than that your getting ripped off.

I usually get a four wheel laser alignment for £20 and that's the best price around my area
