My New Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Got it yesterday :) My 2.0tfsi vRS, first things first, it needed a good fettle like any new car, even though it was handed over pretty clean, I washed it and gave it a coating of Murs polish followed by Zymol Wax...

haha hope my mother doesnt read this, she would be happy about you calling her pride n joy a crappy little vauxhall...as much as I agree ;)

Im going to do a few subtle mods, tints, sat nav, Ive got some blue lamin-x to put on, but unsure how it will look, so if it doesnt suit my taste its coming straight back off - so could be £30 down drain. not sure about other mods yet, I fancy 18" zeniths as apposed to the 17" and I would like it to sit lower, but really really dont wanna compromise the comfort now lol, after having my Fabia low and stiff for a few year.

When you get to my age, the longer it can stay stiff the better B)

You wou won't notice much difference in ride between the 17s and 18s, and 18s would certainly look a whole lot better

haha why o why didnt i take the blue pill ;) (matrix quote)

Yeh i was thinking the wheels would be ok, but I dont want it to look like a pickup lol, so are there any means of lowering the car slightly without compromising performance and comfort?

Swapping to Eibach springs would bring a drop, without compromising comfort too much.

And I agree with Bryan on the 18s. I'm pretty picky about ride comfort and compliance and I'm happy with the switch to 18s. I think it's largely because there's still a reasonable amount of sidewall, going to a 225/40/18 from a 225/45/17.

And then you've got a ready set of winters to switch back to if you want. Bonus :)

do they come up often or is it a case of wait and keep a keen eye on the for sale section? im guessing the stealers want a fortune?

The 'official' kit is no longer available. They were just Eibach springs with a Skoda part number sticker on the box anyway. No difference to the springs, or the markings on them whatsoever.

They come up every so often here 2nd hand, but TBH the discount isn't massive. I recently switched back to a fixed spring and sports damper setup from KW V1s, and the Eibach Pro Kit set worked out at £135 inc VAT. That was from Awesome so worth ringing them up. Check on delivery from them too. If it sounds expensive, I can collect for you if you fancy coming to a meet, and get them from me there. Awesome are only 15 mins from me emoticon-0148-yes.gif

DPM (sponsors on here too) are worth checking with for prices, as are Larkspeed.

Likewise you want a ride out on 18s, Eibachs and FSDs - let me know :)

Steve
