Mouse damage

Featured Replies

We had an unwelcome visitor in the Superb over the winter , I blame my wife for leaving food or eating in the car but either way the little blighter got on and caused a bit of havoc , I "think" it got in via the gearlever surround since the gaiter around the gearlever was chewed away but it could of got in other ways (remember the old Skoda joke about the doorseals???*) either way the net result £125 parts and labour ......grrrr.

Little satisfaction that I caught it in a mousetrap, 2010 was an expensive year for us WRT wildlife in addition to this I hit a badger in my Evo and lost the front number plate and I hit a pheasant in the Octy and split the bumper and wrecked part of the trim

* How does the Skoda Factory test door seals ?? They lock a cat in the car overnight and if its still there in the morning it passes :):):)

Just relish the thought that one little mouse could have inflicted several hundreds of pounds worth of damage if it has taken a fancy to some of your car's wiring!!!

I had field mice in my last car, turned out they nested in a computer monitor box I carry around with me ( I demonstrate and sell computer software). I had emptied the car our for a week away and put the stuff out of the boot in the garage and the little b*****s nested in the monitor box, (the fields opposite had been harvested). first I knew about it was when I took a packet of sweets out of the glove box to find the packet with holes in it and a number of sweets had been nibbled. next morning in hotel car park emptied the car found rear seat squab nibbled, along with luggage compartment cover & carpet, plus trim damaged in glove box but luckily no wiring damage.

Found a family of 6 in the monitor box and the polystyrene packing wrecked - unwanted visitors evicted in hotel carpark rubbish bin

Try to entice them out with some cheese..... but Caerphilly does it.

Nice - we had them in the garage and some stuff was wrecked, but not the car - I'm sure they could get in if they wanted, but from your description ("We had an unwelcome visitor in the Superb over the winter") you make it sound like you laid the Skoda up for the snowy season!

Furry menaces - luckily my damage was supeficial - an old blanket, some snowboard boots (never warn) and a bunch of paper shredded. scared the beelzebub out of me when they jumped out of the box a clear 4 ft into the air when I moved their new house though!

Certainly not the car is in daily use and parked on a driveway, behind my Octavia which is used much less( But then i dont eat in the car ), in fact our Superb is 2 years old and just had its 30k service so it was probably a well travelled little mouse :)

and no more cheese puns i'm feta up with them!!

I'm Gouda stop the puns now.

Make sure you check round the engine bay too - quite a few suitable living quarters for them there too!
