Brake pads low

Featured Replies

Been told that the random squealing sounds I'm getting must be the rear brake pads getting low. This is after having had the front pads replaced.

My question is, can low brake pads cause noise? I could understand it if they were noisy under braking, but while accelerating or cruising???

Slightly suspicious... Hope someone can explain!

they do mate! mine are doing it at this point in time, the inner pad squeaks when the car is cornering. must replace brakes!

When the rear pads get low the discs are usually also crusted with a lip of rust around the edges, this can then rub on the caliper when the pads are low and its especially worse when the discs get hot as they expand HTH

its usually the low wear indicator. A strip of metal designed to rub against the disc and squeal to let you know they need changing.

Yep, Noisy when worn, sometimes juddder when braking hard as well, go change 'em boy.
