How do I go about removing the cd changer from the boot of my Octy?

The cables are all plugged in but the stereo says "no changer" and I now have a cartridge stuck in the changer :S

On mine it is connected to the metal housing which had four screws (two each side - torx i think) into the cd changer unit.

Mine did the same. I took those 4 screws out and when I undid the conector there were a couple of corroded pins. Gave them a clean but had to do a small bit of DIY electrics to repair one. Now works perfectly again!

Ah so it is the same as my old mk4 Golf then! Any ideas on how to get the carpetting off from around it? Does it just pull straight up?

Pass on the carpet issue, as mine is an estate, it was down behind a flap.
