Mobile Sat Nav Apps On Laptop

Featured Replies

Can any of the Sat Nav apps for mobile be run on a laptop on an emulator.

Obviously the emulator must allow for input from a GPS device (USB Pen etc).

I used to use a laptop connected to a GPS and Autoroute about 10 years ago - pretty cutting edge stuff then!

Cheers for that !

It seems that Microsoft are behind Autoroute now and it comes with real-time GPS input (Last time I used it was the 1980s, sans GPS):-

I'll have a play with the free-trial version that may well be suitable for my hols.

I have a GPS for walking but the road maps are only basic and don't go down to low enough level and the screen is small so its difficult to read when driving.

I didn't want to have to pay out for a suitable mobile or Tom-Tom or be charged for downloading maps in real time, so this potentially could be ideal.

In the 4x4 world the system to have is Memory Map, as this gives you positioning on actual OS maps.
