Auto Wipers

Featured Replies

Hi

Is it possible to 'delete' the auto wiper function, using VAGCOM, to return it to the 'old' style multi-speed intermittent function? The auto function works reasonably well most of the time but I would prefer the old school function if it can be done.

Pretty sure I have seen the option for it, and that it was within 46- Central Convenience. Do you have VCDS yourself?

If not I'll take a look on mine next time I'm hooked up.

No, unfortunately I don't have one. Much appreciated if you get chance to look

Oky doke. Will update the thread and let you know how successful the search is :)

If you'd only have posted yesterday, as I was using it last night :)

Cheers,

Steve

Just thinking, yours is an FL isn't it? That might prove tricky as they've moved a load of stuff round with the latest convenience module revision emoticon-0114-dull.gif

Unfortunately it's pretty certain that if the setting does exist (and I'm pretty certain it does), it'll be in a difference place on my pre-FL....

Will still have a look round though.

Yep, FL model. Cheers for looking Steve.

I was under the impression this could not be done, but if it can would be very keen to disable the auto function.

To be fair it works a heck of a lot better on the 06 L&K than it did on my 05 Elegance. That one had a mind of it's own!!!

. . . . . but if it can would be very keen to disable the auto function.

It's hopeless. Dust triggers it. Mild drizzle/gentle rain/blinding spray - no effect! Rain? Computer say - "no"

Just turn it off with the stalk and then put to auto when it is raining. Works brilliantly when it is rainging but when it is dirty spray etc like in the winter i turn it off and just use the manual push down of the stalk to do a single wipe.

Seconded. I certainly don't leave the stalk in the 'auto' position all the time...

Then if you do find it's not triggering when it should, flicking the adjustment switch on the top down a notch and then back to the far-right should have a positive effect emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Yes, I seem to do so much "flicking" of the adjustment switch on the top and turning the 'auto' on and off, I'd might as well have a manual lever the move the wipers myself or even just get out the car and squeejee the glass from the outside. Sometimes they work just fine but mostly rubbish!

I couldn't go back to 'normal' wipers now. The vans have work have variable intermittent and it does my head in. Would rather flick to auto and adjust the sensitivity once in a blue moon depending on the rain instead of having to constantly adjust the intermittent.

its called "off", or "0" position on the wipers!!!

that's exactly wat i do.

System works brilliantly for me. It's not 100% perfect of course but what is - one persons too sensitive is anothers too infrequent. Leave mine on all the time and would never want to go back to normal wipers. But each to their own.

That misses the point. With auto wipers, it's not possible to use the wipers in the traditional intermittent mode. Hence the question by the OP about disabling the auto functionality completely.

ah, i c - that makes more sense.

my apologies on the misunderstanding.
