wish bone bushes

Featured Replies

Hi, Ive had my car for about a month nowand ever since ive had it ive had a wobbling feeling between 2-2500 revs under heavey load, origanally i was told it was the engine mounts so i changed all of those but the wobbling is still there. Today i noticed very bad ware on the inside edge on my two front tyres, i took it two the tyre place and put it up on the ramps and the two rear bushes are gone on the bottom arm and they think thats whats been causing the problem. does this sound about right to people on here who know alot more then me. The car has only got 10,000 on the clock ( 6,500) when i got it but due to accident damage alot of the parts used were second hand.

thanks for your help and advice. John

Is it an A3 or a Skoda.

If it's a Fabia Diesel then vibration at THOSE revs would normally make me suspect the clutch / dual mass fly wheel as it's where peak torque comes in?

Could be well off the mark though.

Wouldn't normally put a rev related vibration / wobble down to the wish bone bushes though.. They normally give vague steering and clunks over speed bumps.

Is it possible the clutch / dual mass flywheel got damaged in the crash? I've read on here about one guy needed a new gear box after a smack with a kerb.

its a fabia the garage say the bushes aer letting the wheels push out and casing the tracking to go all over the place on acceleration casing the wobble and the wear on the tyres tracking is fine wen the car is siting still i only get the wobble in 4th to 6th and its the console bushes i mean

Sounds like the garage have found the problem then.

TBH, if they're as bad as they sound they need doing anyway so doesn't hurt to change them.. But I'd highly recommend the Ibiza Cupra upgrade route if it's the console bushes that have failed (it sounds like these are what your referring too).. They're solid, rather than voided so they last much longer and make the steering just a teeny tiny bit shaper around things like roundabouts.

You'll find the part number in the Seat mod / parts list in the sticky amongst the top of the threads in Fabia 1.

EDIT: No you won't because it's been removed? Search for Cupra console Bush and you should find the part number.

thanks for the advice i think i am going to yous the power flex bushes because wot i have red on hear thay r

easier to fit i hope thay r not too hard as the roads hear r very bad

I've just fitted the powerflex bushes and believe me they are so much easier to fit than oem ones and I aint really noticed to much difference in it except I dont have the horrible knocking noise if your going to do it yourself get 2 new wishbone bolts from skoda there a 100mm as yours will thread on the way out, it is quite a easy job as in you will know how to do it but it is quite a physical job you will need an 18mm socket a 13mm socket and a very strong ratchet

Thanks for the advice on the wish bone bolts ill order those on Monday. Poly bushes are ordered.

Because the tyre wear was so bad i thought it would be safer to put the two front wheels off of my A3 on, NO NO N0 BAD IDEA because the A3 tyres are 55 profile and the VRS tyres on the back are only 45s , when i drove down the road and got up to a decent speed i took my foot off the pedel and the bloody car kept speeding up, i wondered what the hell was going on and then i remembered the traction control on these works on sensors back and front. So a quick trip home to change the back wheels sorted that out. On a plus side the bigger profile on the tyres seems to have eased the wobble on heavy elecalation alot.

Cool got to take mine in for tracking steering wheel I'd off to the right slightly which would make sense I had the tracking done the other week with the knackered bushes on and it was to the left which is the one that was knackered I too had a slight wobble from the steering hope you get it sorted let us know how you get on the bruises on my arm are also going

wow, you seem to know alot about the car, did you go to see it ? Everything seemed ok to me, the paint work on the repair wasnt the best. He was looking for alot for the car but i didnt pay him anywhere near that. Car has been in the garage and been looked at cant see anything wrong or out of palce.

The guy kept incontact with me just incase i had any problems registering the car this side of the country ( I live in southern Ireland ).

don't know alot about it but it had been for sale ever since i was looking for my first vrs way back in 2007... and it hadn't moved a muscle since then...

iirc 06 plate with 6,500 miles in black?

don't know anything about it but it hadn't sold in 4 years?? or gained any miles?

i'd get a full check over of the whole suspension....

bare in mind it must have been less than a year old when it got wrote off so must have had some serious damage
