Gone and done it!

Yep, after five years of owning a MK1 vRS (from new) I ordered a new one.

Race Blue, standard alloys, parking sensors and cruise control.

Projected delivery late July/early August. Got the zero VAT deal and if the value of my car increases and/or Skoda introduce a 0% finance deal by the time it arrives they'll re-jig the figures so looking good so far.

Woo-hoo.

I'm assuming you test driven a MK2 Vrs. What did you think of it compared to the MK1?

Fair shout Lee, MK1 vRS is a good car but the new one is much better. Glad to see you've been sensible with the options too, more saved the better as far as I'm concerned.

I'll miss the old vRS but it's time to move on.

The dealer was quite excited about mine as it's in mint condition, the joys of being cared for and living in a garage for 99% of its (parked) life. He was pretty honest and said they'd probably make at least £2k over the trade-in value as clean, straight and unmolested MK1s are apparently very hard to come by but hey-ho. He was quite interested as he'd not seen one with factory-fit Xenons, cd changer and cruise control on one car so some lucky person will be enjoying it in a few months.

The new vRS engine was very smooth, almost silent compared to the MK1 and the DSG seamless and, in the short time I tried, defintitely a step-up. Just a shame they're not offering a manual on the new one. I also wangled a drive in a Monte Carlo too; very similar ride and handling and not bad go for a blown 1.2 but I couldn't go backwards on that front!

The dealer has an S2000 version vRS in very soon and asked if I'd be interested but wasn't surprised when I said I'd rather wait for something more tasteful!

Looking forward to seeing the pics of your vRS when you get it.

My girlfriend runs a MK1 vRS and I currently run a MK2, I like to drive them both to be honest, I do like to rev the nuts off her one though. To be honest with the older vRS it feels as if you are sitting 'in' the seats, rather than 'on' the seats with my new one. That might just be me though.

I think this is more to do with the difference in seat height of the Fabia Mk2 compared with the Fabia Mk1. I sit 'in' my Mk1, but 'on' a Mk2.

Congrats, your enjoy the MK II.

Keep us posted on build date etc.
