Alloygators

Featured Replies

Just purchased some yellow alloygators for my yellow vrs, hoping to cover up some of the unsightly scuffs on the alloys the previous owner left. For those who don't know they are basically a strip of plastic that goes between your tire and your alloy and overlap on the outer edge of the alloy. You can get them in silver or black to match your tire/rim or you can get them in a colour to add a bit of styling. However on installing my first one I have managed to un-seat the tire from its bead. Anyone else had this trouble? Have I let my tire down too much?

Any helps would be mucho appreciated

I gave these a try, never got them to work, never air-tight

Took them to a tyre fitter (a good one), they gave up too.

Send them back a get a refund.

Last time I looked into these the instructions were to fully deflate the tyre. Have you just had new tyres fitted as to break the bead just fitting the trim is strange, if the tyre was fully seated and the trim is able to break the bead I would not be happy to use the vehicle. Get in touch with the manufacturers right away, it is possible they are not suitable for your actual wheels.

These trims have been subject to several posts in the past but I don't remember anyone actually breaking the bead on fitting.

From post above deffinately report to the manufacturer as soon as possible.

I have seen them on a few cars I would much rather live with the stuffs than fit them . Looked horrible imo

Thanks for all the help. I have dropped my wheel off at the local garage and going to get them to give them a look over. I bought them off ebay so I am definately going to contact them and see what they can do about it.

Thanks once again

a couple of months ago im sure i found on their website that fitting was included, fitted by eTyre or something, cant seem to find it now :S

i think ill be getting black ones (black alloys on the new fabia vRS have a silver edge round them that i want to hide).. this will be my 1st new car, 1st car with alloys, i dont wanna be scratching them, im sure ill manage to fit them tho, somehow

edit:

30 seconds later, i found it..

Linky

didnt notice the £70 for fitting before :S .. and on the eTyres website, alloygators are nowhere to be seen

Just a quick update, Had my car in at local garage today, who are extremely reputable and they the owner their said there is no way these will go on my car. He said they had tried everything possible but they just wouldn't work. Looks like another e-mail to the rude ebay seller who replied to my original message with 'there is nothing wrong with the product, just your inability to fit them'
