I keep getting this error every time I start the car .....anyone have any idea what this is and how I can get rid of it ??

The car is running perfectly ..

I have tried clearing the fault code... however keeps coming up every time I switch on the car.!!

Thanks

160 mBar is VERY low and I doubt that the car is running 'perfectly' as the ECU thinks you are at 40000ft.

You will need to get the ECU repaired or replaced as the sensor is part of it.

Any

reason for this happening ??

Cars runnin ok except that the turbo is kicking in later ....and this error is only when the car is started .!

In all but one case I've seen (various ECUs), it was just a faulty part inside the ECU. The one case that wasn't was a bit left field - the owner had cling filmed the ECU to prevent water getting to it.

I see you are in India. I guess it could be caused by very high humidity, dust or moisture, so take a look around the ECU.

What is the absolute pressure after driving it for a few hours?

I drove around for about 25-30 kms ..no error at that time...The error only pops up when I switch on the car...

Could you pinpoint the exact location of the ECU ..I'll have a look right now itself ...

I have a FL..also the car has done only 9k kms..\

Thanks alot.

Just got back from the workshop !!

I have been told that the ECU is showing a static error ..... However they can't replace it as the car is running well and there is no warning light on the dash (no maxi-dot)

I have no idea what I'm supposed to do ??emoticon-0106-crying.gifemoticon-0106-crying.gif

The car is in warranty but only for the next 3 months !!

Scared to drive the car now and risking DESTROYING something BIG!

You won't destroy anything. The ECU has detected the fault and will be using a default altitude correction. If you remain close to sea level, the only problem will be a slight hesitation and a reduction in engine power.

When the sensor is working, the charge pressure is reduced to prevent the turbocharger overspeeding with decreasing air pressure (higher altitude/lower density). It also feeds into the AFR calculation at startup (the starting mixture is leaned down with rising altitude). Adaption of the injection quantity at start-up no longer takes place.

You may find that you would get a warning light if you were to drive the car at altitude.

There is a fault with the ECU and they need to change it under warranty. If the dealer doesn't, then contact Skoda directly.

hope this problem has nothing to do with vags coding for extra features? :wonder:

I have retrofitted automatic lights and cruise control and also activated a few features via vcds ....

Is making changes to the bcm connected to this error in the ecu by anyways??

This is NOT related - it is a component that has failed - the garage confirmed the fault

This is NOT related - it is a component that has failed - the garage confirmed the fault

so this has no connection to the ecu problem he is having? is there a chance of this component to fail cause of the bcm?

thanks..

@rwbaldwin....

I'm planning on taking the car to a hill station about 100 kms away from my place ....maybe it will bring up the warning light and I'll get a replacement ASAP...

Anything I should take care of ..?? Anytips on how I should drive .? Or whether I should go or not?

Thanks ... I'm very concerned about damaging something.

Also can you tell me where the ECU is exactly !

I have been using a VERY low octane fuel in my car is it possible that the sensor failure is because of that.?

Thanks

No - it's an electronic component that has failed. Nothing you have done could have caused this.

The ECU is located beneath the plenum covers but LEAVE IT ALONE WHILST THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY

the ECU thinks you are at 40000ft.

I have been using a VERY low octane fuel in my car

Are you using aviation fuel? :smirk::rofl:

On another note, why try and sort this yourself? (unless you caused it :wonder: )

Get your dealer to sort it out-it's a newish car???

I don't know what I would have to do to have a sensor in the ecu fail???

Anyways the car s new only done 9k and still in warranty ....

Any other helpful comments you have ?

I fail to understand why you are still looking for help from people on here to fix what is clearly a warranty problem, and probably impossible to fix yourself. Have you not read rwbaldwin's replies? Why on earth can you not just get your dealer to sort it out?

If you didn't have VCDS you wouldn't know what the problem was and would have to take the car to the dealer. :dull:

Because the dealer is telling me it's a static error ....and he can't give me a warranty claim for static errors.......

Also he is saying that there is no error as there aren't any WARNING light s on the dash...!!!!!!

They aren't as aware about petrol engines........diesels outsell petrol like 10 to 1 here!

U think I would want to run around looking for solutions when I'm should rather be having a free replacement and a sorry for the trouble card?
