Exporting from CZ to UK

Featured Replies

Any help appreiciated. Currently living in Cz, but after 2 years we will be returning back to UK. Would love to bring back a classic Skoda, 60's/70s or 80's model but not sure regarding export from Cz/Importing to UK. Has anybody recently done this and can give me some advice? Also i believe there is a 10,000Czk Eco tax on old cars here in Cz. Can this be avoided if exporting out of Cz? Any help/advice greatly appreiciated. Thanks Mark :)

Hello, My S100 came from Cz, I bought it "deregistered" in Cz, last April.

Registration in the UK was simple. MOT it, insure it on the chassis number and then fill in the registration form and duty declaration. Couple of weeks later, got sent a registration number, and a couple of weeks after that, the V5 plopped onto the doorn mat.

Simples

Im not sure about exporting it has a going concern. In Cz, I think that as soon as the car is deregistered for export, the number plates have to be surrended. In theory, you should be issued with export plates, but I have no experience of this.

Yep the ecotax is rife in Cz, and is pretty much responsible for thousands of old Skoda's getting crushed. I am unsure if it is avoided if the car is exported.

Thanks for reply. I would be interested in exporting it "Deregistered". How did you track down your car? Is it simply a case of finding a car, and then persuading the current owner/dealer to deregister it? If so is there any cost? Thanks for help.

I found my car on the Czech auction site Aukro

My girlfriend is Czech so that probably helped considerably!

When the car gets deregistered, it is classed as for parts only. No cost is involved, the number plates get handed in, and the registration document is either clipped as deregistered, or removed altogether.

Mine came without the registration, but a receipt was enough when i regsitered it here.
