Retro fit Cruise control problem

Featured Replies

Second problem post tonight!

I had Cruise control fitted today and they haven't been able to code the steering control module to accept it and I need a replacement unit. Does anyone know of any other way to resolve this problem or at least where I can get the unit for much cheapness? it's £157 from the dealer.

(2006 Octavia vRS 2.0 TFSI)

Cheers.

Do you mean the comfort control module? You need a 6Q0 or a 6Q1 unit. I remember Devonutopia was selling one a while back on ebay but dont know if it sold or not. Pm him mate.

Ah sorry ive noticed its for an octy so none of the above applies probably!

Thanks for your reply, the garage said steering control module but they could have meant comfort control unit for all I know. Totally out of my depth here.

The Octy and Fabia are completely different.

Early steering column control units don't support cruise control, unless you can find a used one which is unlikely I'd say you'll have to get one from a dealer.

Do you have any idea of the part number for the module that does support CC?

Do a search on here, someone posted up a link to the Ross-Tech wiki which had a list of Steering Control Modules and if they supported cruise or not, and if they supported Maxidot or not.

carsystems.pl on ebay sell them - take a look at ebay item no 170593270407

I am not saying this is the correct one for you - email them and they will recommend the one you need

Excellent info there thank you, I've been scouring the internet for more and have emailed carsystems.pl also found the part numbers on the ross-tech wiki too.

Thanks again for your help, it's what makes these forums priceless!

Thanks for all the replies guys, it's been very helpful.

I'll post the results when it's all sorted as I know how frustrating it is reading a thread that's of interest to you and there not being a conclusion.

Cheers.
