skoda new car 7 day insurance

Featured Replies

On the website it seems to imply that you can get 7 days cover for free with skoda. This would be very useful for me as it'd give me time to punt the old car once I've picked up the new one.

Has anyone here used it or know anything about it (yes, I could call SUK customer services but I trust you guys more :) ! )

thanks

Chris.

I used it when collected my new car. Really easy to do, dealer gives you the telephone number and there dealer code. It is mainly used so they can tax your new car.

Yes, it is correct, or was when I got mine. The idea apparently is to allow for taxation etc.

When we collected our VW (presume all teh same finance/insurance company?) they asked when I phoned up to give them teh details if they could give me a quote for full insurance against your own cover, my insurance quoted me £350 they quoted me just a under £2K!!!!

But it is a very handy thing to be given for tax etc.

ok guys, thanks for the responses. Think I'll be using it myself come pickup time.

cheers

Well worth taking the seven days free cover. Gives you plenty of time to sort your own insurance out then.

I used it n mine was rear ended at 5 days old, phoned skoda insurance n they collected it n transported it back to dealers. The claim , repairs etc were all covered by the other drivers insurance. Skoda didn't charge for the transport from accident to dealers. Absolutely excellent.

Ditto here - used the free 7 day insurance when picking up the new car last summer - just made it easy to get the car taxed as the Skoda insurance people had the contact details of all dealerships and faxed cover the note directly. I think it's actually run by Zurich.

I've just taken it out to collect my new car on Monday - I'll change my insurance over to the new car once I get it home.

You can do it online:

insurewithskoda.co.uk/7day

However you need the Dealer Reference Code to complete the application.

Used it when i bought my Oct'y as it made my plate transfere very easy.

It's also offered on used vehicles. As above, I gave them the details and teh dealership were able to tax the car without any further involvement from me. Very handy

I let them use it for taxing the car when I bought mine last October but I didn't drive on it!

It is pretty basic insurance.

Read the small print and in particular look at the size of the excess. Can't remember what it was but I do remember it made my eyes water at the time (£1000?). Also - no 2nd driver allowed and I don't think there was glass cover.

Whatever you decide be sure that you don't end up with 2 insurance policies running at the same time - causes real difficulties if you make a claim when you answer the question "were you covered by any other policy at the time of the accident?"

The free seven day insurance is very easy to set up and use - the only downside is IF you need to make a claim, God forbid, the excess is £500.

I asked for this to make it easy to collect my new VRS from the dealer and they said they didnt do it!

I used the insurance as I had an ICD implanted and wasn't allowed to drive. Thought I be ok as I was expecting it to be end of march. Explained the situation to the dealer and he told me to use the 7 day insurance and put my brother as a named driver. Really easy to set up and saves you having to post/ drop your insurance details to the dealer. Picked up the car but unfortunately had to sit on the drive for 3 weeks but now making up 4 lost time
