yep went this morn first class recorded so should have it by wed thurs latest i would have thought,

Thats great cheers. I found a photo of the couplers you mentioned and have emailed sfs and samco so hopefully find something out this week

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but what was the outcome on this? I have a the same set up (standard SMIC and OEM EGR) and want to replace the pipe from between the EGR and back of headlight.

What sizes did you go for in the end (dia and angles)?

Im in the process of speaking to Samco about getting couplings made up and from there the silicone bends necessary

cool cool cheers, i'll watch this space...

Just been having a nosy around my engine bay. Whats to stop us just having a 70mm to 57mm 90deg reducer on the end of the egr valve? I think you mentioned it further up?

I had thought of that but I had read in another thread about problems arising from having boost pipes with too wide an ID.

Not heard back from Samco yet so going to email them again and try and get an answer

Ok cool. I guess if you have a big enough jump in size then the boosted air would slow down due to diffusion but i wouldnt of thought htat 13mm would make that much difference, but then again im not a fluid dynamics expert!

Id be really interested in hearing what Samco have to say. I cleaned my SMIC on the weekend and now the lower IC pipe(exits IC towards turbo) keeps popping out on full boost. I called SEAT and they want £85 to repalce the 90' pipe!!! only 2 years ago I replaced the IC pipe that exits the intercooler and that was £36. How can SEAT justify nearly 3 times for a smaller pipe!

I had this same problem, thankfully TrevorB33 was selling his sfs uprated pipe at the time, hey presto problem solved for about £40+ cheaper than a replacement.

Got an email from Samco yesterday, I just need the Diameters for the couplings that go into the EGR Valve and Top of the Intercooler and they can quote me a price for the couplings.

If you were to measure the size of the couplings for the lower boost pipe I could find out the cost of the couplings then you would only need the silicone pipe and you've basically got an uprated version. No idea what it would cost to do but could be cheaper than a replacement oem pipe that will fail again.

Hi Mike, this is going to sound stupid but could you explain what i need to measure, do i need a digital gauge? So are SKODA charging the same extortionate price for their pipes? that was going to be my next port of call trying VW and skoda for prices.

Just spoken to Lee at SFS and they can supply me with the replacement pipe. Like the one TrevorB33 sold you :) I just need to double check Im seating the pipe properly and its not the IC that is broken...

Good stuff, the pipe really is worth it, good bit of kit and not had a problem since fitting it about 700 miles ago. Hope its not the IC thats broken, if your problem is the same as mine, the tabs on the oem pipe have been worn/pushed flat and so are no longer being held in place by the clamp. IIRC the oem has the tabs punched out of the collar so are essentially hollow, the sfs and samco ones are machined and are therefore solid so should be good for a long long time!

Just had an email from Merlin Motorsport who supply the Samco hose kit for the vrs, he has told me that the couplings on the end of the upper boost pipe are 60mm and 65mm, I am going on the assumption the 65mm coupling is for the EGR valve, would anybody be able to confirm this?

With help from TrevorB33 answered my own question, the coupling needed for the EGR valve is 65mm.

Will email Samco to get a price

mate also i dont know if the asz is different from the blt as two different kits are listed, mayeb the later has a smaller egr?? mines asz btw

Thats a good point, mines is ASZ aswell. Might be worthwhile for someone with a BLT engine to check before they go ahead and order anything, better yet anybody with a BLT engine who wouldn't mind checking would be a big help.

thats the only reason i can think off that they would offer a different pipe for two engine codes, wouldnt have thought the intercooler end would be any different
