Featured Replies

well finally got my 1.9 tdi ambiente 07 fixed several months ago car started running as if wheels

were buckled.I described the problem to garage told them felt like wheels were oval, first mechanic

said car seemed ok when test driven, then had 70,000 miles on clock.did another 15,000 miles with

problem getting worse.took car to another garage they made noises like uneven tyre wear tracking

suspension bushes but really not sure.anyway got new pair of tyres on font had tracking checked

made no difference in fact getting worse.coming up to 90,000 mls passengers commenting now they

saying can feel vibration under floor. The whole front of the car feels out of ballence.time for

cambelt change the previous indy garages not much help,so booked in at dm keith main skoda dealer

in leeds.Told them do cambelt and investigate wibble wobble on front end.Cambelt done quite reanosable

£305.00 no water pump as they say it fine. Can,t find anything wrong with front end but suggest replace

bottom arms as they had bit of play. Not convinced so picked car up carried on driving another 10,000 mls

not getting any worse but driving me mad.as car is taxi keep getting opinion of passengers one said he felt

like jelly on a plate riding in my car.couple of mechanics said could be driveshaft out of ballance apparently

some have ballance weights maybe one fallen off.Time for another search on line. Many searches later got in touch

with driveshaft specialist in birmingham. Finally someone knew about a problem with vag cars with dsg box.

the cv inner joint was the culprit, the join is completly different to one on manual.Still not sure if this guy

right or not.Anyway later on got to talk to their tech department. They told me they supplied audi racing team

with modified cv joints, they had 500 units ariving in 3 weeks.Get this £25.99 each too good to be true or what

well waited three weeks, guess what gonna be another 3 weeks before they arrive.By now done 35,000 mls with 07

car that drives like mk1 Cortina with shot void bushes.Had enough ordered inner cv joints from skoda both sides

cost £270.00 came next day factory order.marvellous opened box outer joints that is wheel side, not happy.Lucky

mechanic not started car.Re ordered cv,s actually went to dm keith told guy to make sure right parts ordered he

appologised said he got chassis no and parts would be there next day.dropped my car at mechanic,s night before so

could get early start. At dealers 8.45am got cv joints shot up to mechanic great news he got drive shaft out found

problem definatly cv joint failure.dsg joint has three bearings pressed on to what look like three fingers one of

the bearings could be pulled of by hand, this had been wobbling whilst trying to drive the wheel hence the feeling

of oval wheels.well we opened box don,t believe it wrong parts don,t look anything like the ones just came off car.

back to dealer talk about mad.they only ordered cv joint for manual. Can,t get any more till next day.Even worse mechanic

too busy to have my car in his garage. So he put old parts back on car and said i have to manage with it tiil next tuesday.

It,s wednesday now.He said not touching car till he has parts in his hand to check they right, also will have to pay twice

for same job.DM Keith leeds whilst saying sorry will not compensate for any additional cost to myself (#####ards)

Only good thing as the mechanic took both sides off he found only one side needed replacing. After visiting three

garages and four mechanics finally got a car that drives like it should cv joint cost £111.00 so nice to have smooth

drive. Ps gonna order a pair of those joints for £25.99 you never know

Glad you got it sorted in the end

Oh, what a mess-around! :( At least it's sorted now! :)

Hmm ... you specified that you wanted part x for car y, they looked up the part number and ordered them? The parts supplied clearly weren't fit for the stated purpose, so you could have recourse under the Sales of Goods Act for consequential damages as a result of breach of contract. Obviously, it would destroy any good will, and seek proper advice first! ;)

Where is this Birmingham garage? I have the same issue I think.

DM Keith leeds

This was your first mistake. Bunch of ****ers that are making ownership of a Skoda unpleasant for many people. Unfortunately they have West Yorkshire sewn up and no choice of other dealers. I hope other people read these negative comments on DM Keith and think twice before visiting them so that they either sort their act out or go under.

The waterpump should have been changed under preventive maintenance whilst the cambelt was being done.

Glad you got your car sorted, it's the type of problem that would drive me nuts. Previous car had a failed outer CV joint and I found quicker, easier and not much more expensive to replace the whole driveshaft which of course replaced all the CV joints on that side. I was amazed at how much tighter/newer the car felt after replacing it

My Passat TDi DSG is at 60k miles and has started doing this. Winter and summer wheels/tyres the same so not wheel related. Changed front discs and brakes and no different.

Might try inner CV joints next then.

Has anyone who experienced this driveshaft issue on DSG cars noticed a noise associated with the problem? If you have, a description of the noise and when it happens would be a great help to other people when they are trying to track down a problem. Also, not sure if Briskoda allow it but another thing that would help with any problem involving transmission or drive train, suspension etc would be a sound file. In order to track down a problem I put my iphone in my engine bay and recorded for about 30 miles of driving. Some parcel tape is all you need to secure a phone on a flat surface like top of battery cover.
